Last year I thought we were in big trouble and we pulled wins against ManU and Arsenal out of the bag to save us.
Not sure we can rely on doing that again.

Before February we went on a run where we'd won only once in 13 (like now). And we only won 3 times in our last 12, drawing 4, and losing 5 in our last 12 but still finished with points to spare. We're in a hole but have the chances to put it right...

The problem with the “CH should let the shackles off” viewpoint, is that our defensive base is incredibly suspect - 4 goals conceded against bottom 3 Fulham in one half, 3 at home against bottom 3 Burnley. A catelogue of exposed teetering giants, being owned by a centre forward, hating pace running at them, deciding to give a striker 10 yards space. Ryan, Dunk and Duffy patently need all the protection we can give them, hence the large numbers in defensive mode since August 17.

Vardy, Maddison, Chilwell, The Diver, Batshuayi, Townsend, would destroy a gung-ho Brighton.

CH knows that, hence 18 months of largely caution. Our squad quality is not (yet) up to the standard many fans think it is.

Buy a player who can go straight into the first team. Whatever next?

Ryan, Gross, Bernardo, Propper, Montoya, Izquierdo - anyone else ?

To keep picking the same innefective goal shy starting 11 is criminal at this level.

We scored 2 against Fulham, it wasn't our strike-force that let us down. We scored yesterday, had 16 shots, some cleared of the line or requiring excellent saves, and should have had a penalty or two.

Are those pissing themselves the same ones who thought Burnley couldn't catch us just a few games ago

Last time we played Hudds we beat them. Last couple of times we played them at home - we've drawn and beat them.

Is going to get us relegated. To keep picking the same innefective goal shy starting 11 is criminal at this level. Locadia and Gross have been terrible for weeks and still start. I want to know what he's smoking? We lack any bite whatsoever across the midfield. The most worrying thing is at the half way point of the season we only needed 3 wins and seem to have gone into cruise mode. That is 100% down to hughton.

Another huge issue is the club failing to improve on our strike force in the window. Not a single striker on the bench. Not good enough. I'm just glad I took 25/1 After the Fulham game. I'm beyond pessimistic.

What do you mean it’s a 100% down to Hughton? That is ridiculous. Yes, a certain portion of blame can be attributed to him - team selection, tactics, substitutions. The players have also got to take responsibility. They are the ones on the pitch who make decisions in play and it is their actions, collectively or individually, that affect the performance and result.

No. He's taken them up from the 4th division. They play attractive football. He's signed some very good young prospects and seems to be able to get the best out of them. Plus, they're currently mid-table.

You're just jealous you sacked him only to replace him with a hoofball specialist who could potentially go through a 2nd relegation whilst in charge of you.

My mistake, Olympiakos knocked you out in the qualification stage for the competition back in august, so technically, you didn't even get into the Europa cup. Hardly anything to shout about. Finishing 7th is no great achievement. Reading finished 8th one season, got relegated the season after. Prem stability is more of an achievement, something Dyche has yet to show.

Is 3 consecutive seasons in the Premier League not showing it?

Of course I'm jealous of a man who had us struggling at the bottom end of the Championship and who gets a nose bleed the minute he reaches the outskirts of Bournemouth.

I'm not denying that he has been brilliant for Bournemouth, but we beat them 4-0 this season, and call me old fashioned but I prefer my team to win 1-0 than lose 4-0 no matter how attractive the football may have been.

Our relative success has been based around us being a hard team to break down and disciplined defending.

The thing I don't understand is our signings and whether some of the players fit into CH style. Locadia and Jahanbakhsh simply don't fit into the managers style of play, they are lazy off the ball and leave other players exposed defensively. Knockaert didn't track back yesterday and Gross can't tackle which is important if he continues to play so deep.

Who signs these players as in my mind they do not fit into the managers defensive plans which have been his strengths. I know they add to the attacking options,however attacking isn't necessarily the managers strength.

Somehow CH has allowed the players to lose defensive shape and discipline which is making us easy to pick off. Come on CH back to basics, it might not be great to watch but if it means staying up I'll settle for it.

I am not in the Hughton Out Camp, however I am becoming frustrated with relatively big money signings of players who don't fit the bill.

If we lost against all of our next three league fixtures against Leicester, Huddersfield and Palace than I would EXPECT him to get the sack.

Thankfully, that won't happen - surely?

Tony didn’t sack Sami when he was leading us blindly into L1. No chance of him sacking CH even if we get relegated.

Are we really? It seemed to work well enough last season, and earlier this one too. Lets face it the team hasn't changed very much since we have been in the Premier League. I know we are going through a barren spell at the moment, but just one win can change everything.

Even yesterday when admittedly we were well below par, we had chances to score before we fell behind, thwarted mainly by Tom Heaton who had an exceptional game. If one of those chances had gone in then we would have had our tails up and it would have been an entirely different game. Burnlet too are a better side than many people give them credit for, and very difficult to beak down.

It's all very well the bed wetters on here saying Hughton should have changed things round when going behind yesterday, but what was he supposed to change it too? with Andone out of the equation following his three game ban we had no other options up front other than Glenn Murray, and the midfielders on the bench, i.e. Bissouma and Kayal offer nothing different to what we already have either. Izquierdo isn't fit enough to play yet, so I don't think there was very much he could do.

I think that may be true of Locadia, but doesn't fit with what I have seen of Jahanbaksh.
He seemed to be all over the pitch and possibly a bit too robust defensively.

I have only seen him for a handful of games mind.

Up to that point I would imagine the statement has a very good chance of being true. Bloom has shown a great deal of loyalty to managers (even starting with Slade, who by ost accounts wasn't his pick, but he stayed with him longer than most other managers would that final season). Hyypia walked away, it's wasn't Bloom firing him. Which suggests we won't do what Newcastle and Norwich did and sack Hughton expecting something better.

We've had a poor run, and maybe we'll go down this year as that team that looked safe then dropped away. Or maybe we'll face a team whose keeper isn't motm, maybe those shots will start to go just inside the post, maybe refs will start spotting those handballs. And we'll stay up this year. Then next year will again be about surviving, and maybe we won't have enough. Or we might stay up again next year. We might find our feet and stay up for several seasons. Happy with such succes, Bloom will stick with Hughton. Most would say rightly so if that's how things play out. Then we'll have a poor season. Decisions going against us, form failing us, and so on. Bloom will continue to show that same loyalty to the man who brought such success, but we just won't have enough and we'll drop down to the championship under Hughton.

You mean like the Man Utd players were doing under Mourinho with an immediate turnaround in abilities, application and attitude under OGS? No change in personnel, no change in abilities, simply a change of direction brought about by the coaching staff. Their players need to look at themselves for previous performances. If our lot are pissed off with Hughton (not suggesting they are) then they too need to look at themselves.

However, well drilled and well coached sides tend to know what they should be doing-most of the time and are generally luckier. We no longer look well organised or lucky which is a worry.
