How seriously are you taking social distancing?

There is a noticeable change in attitude to lockdown more people around people in shops not keeping their distance, shops busier than usual and cars everywhere.

I would say people’s resolve has softened

Definitely quite a lot busier round here. Cars and people - and especially noticeable are the tradesmen who seem to have decided to start going back to work now. Not just boredom, but probably also to do with the stockpiling now running out, and tradesmen having had a three-week break, now need to earn some money again - not all can survive off past earnings whilst waiting for the government funds.

A mobile phone found in the fells near Ambleside was traced to the owner - who lived 40 miles away....

As i have driven around this week it’s obvious traffic is heavier ..I’m noticing a lot of the cars with just one person...however we are comparing it with extremely low levels....and in a way it was inevitable....but doesn‘t mean people don’t give a ‘’toss’’ as suggested.
Still seeing loads of people walking..cycling etc

Yes there are more cars but it's still way lower than normal.

I haven't had my daily 20 minute queue at Washington roundabout for weeks.

It's definitely being treated a bit less seriously. I am noticing slightly more cars on the road, although it is still very quiet and more people on the seafront sitting down acting like its their holidays on the beach with mini picnics and going in the sea on kayaks and paddle boards, which they have repeatedly been asked not too.

I just do not get what goes through their heads, although I have to say, there has been mixed messages coming from Government and the Police and the last statement that you can sit down during exercise or visit a friends (for 7 days!!) if you've had a blazing row with your partner, is only going to go one way. I do feel the Police need to be so much stricter with those being selfish.

The thing that is really frustrating is when I walk from where I am in 7 Dials, to the Dyke and back and the amount of cars parking on the verges or filling the car parks is unacceptable. Quite clearly they shouldn't be there, too many people taking the piss.

I completely understand the minor contravention like exercising at a safe distance every now and again with someone who may be living alone otherwise, or checking in on someone who may be suffering but is still managing etc, little things like that, although advised not too, are ok in my eyes.

I respect people need to make money, but the furlough period has started now and that money will come. It's a National effort and those putting their economics before the national health are quite frankly a bit ****ing selfish. We all need to make money in these tough times and the financial help will come.

I'm concerned that shops are also relaxing.

So many cars in Dyke Road, Brighton and similar over the last three or four days, also on the roads over the Downs. Stopping to chat and observe, 4 out of 5 cars in each convoy contained families, presumably on trips to Brighton centre/the beach, or vice versa heading back to mid Sussex homes. Plus plenty of teenage couples out and about, and groups of extended families, and also lads.

The social distancing is imho disintegrating, due I guess to a growing chunk of Sussex people being bored and giving lockdown two fingers.

My brother in law works with the homeless and street drinkers, smack addicts and the like.

He's been out in the city center past few days and said it's still like 28 Days Later. But without the zombies.

Well, the smackhead zombies are still there, but that's standard in any city.

In and around Brighton, a selfish arrogance has manifested itself. Loads of grandparents out with their families this week. Not a care in the world that one of them could well spread the virus to others later eg in a shop.

I really can't imagine Sheffield is any different. In fact we have very low rates across Brighton /Sussex comparitvely speaking. And whenever I'm down on the seafront, for example, the vast majority are still very much respecting social distancin, and very conscientious of others. Certainly along Hove seafront, anyway.

-very many more cars on the road. Waited as a line of maybe 8 cars went past at one crossing, has been none for the past month
-I think EVERYONE who owns a soft-top is out cruising with the roof down. Probably all SELFISH TORIES who are showing off. I might start a thread ����

That diagram produced very early and displayed at the earlier press briefings was pretty clear to me how easily the virus can spread through infection.

We have a bad situation from the people at the back of us, the daughter did have her boyfriend staying however he has disappeared now and her Mum has had breast cancer. So when her boyfriend was there a couple of Fridays ago a red car turned up and four of them were smoking dope in the car and the next daytime same red car turned up and between four of them they washed three cars with no social distancing. What I don't get is she must realise her Mum is vulnerable but clearly not bothered.

I see what you mean, but judging by friends in Manchester who say the same is happening there in terms of folk becoming more slack (albeit still adhering to social distancing in public generally), I really can't imagine a big city like Sheffield being any different overall. I've lived in different regions of England; regional stereotypes are largely bollocks imo. You get the same percentage of decent, respectful people and not so decent, respectful people everywhere. Mostly decent, respectful people in the vast majority of places despite what the media will have you believe.
