We should not sell. But if offered £50m+ right now that seems a reasonable deal.

Still think he has the potential to be the Irish Harry Kane but equally could disappear into a list of promising youngsters who haven’t quite made it…

The Irish Aaron Connolly?

Or maybe the Irish Paddy McCourt?

I agree; he has the raw talent to be exceptional. Unfortunately, talent alone is nothing like enough though. The people at the top have amazing talent and a ridiculous work ethic. If they lose the latter they go downhill rapidly.

I hope he stays with us and becomes what we all think he could be.

It’s a difficult one as Ferguson clearly has very high potential but has only shown it in small flashes. He could easily turn out to be like the Swedish chap we let go & start scoring regularly.

£50m I think is fair because there’s definitely a good striker in there plus he’s still very young & homegrown.
Swedes are often departing this place unfortunately some come back.

For my sins I often have TS on whilst I’m working I find Darren Bent’s insights interesting. He said when he thought he had made it as a youngster he saw how the older established pros trained daily and soon realised he was way off it. I don’t agree with the clubs stance of giving youngsters mega contracts when they have promise we’ve seen it destroy Connolly and now possibly Ferguson. Make them work for it keep them hungry.

On the basis that fella Duran Duran at Villa is worth about £57 million, I'd suggest about £20m for Ferguson.

Let's be honest, he's done nothing for ages and is a sick note.

I think he'll be playing in League One in 5 years time.

If Ferguson was hungry like the wolf, then he may command a higher fee.
Maybe his agent should sent his reel to potential clubs, seeing his Goals on Film might bump the price up as well.

I'd go lower on the price but higher on the sell on clause. Say £25m and 50% of the whole sell on fee.

That said, he's a young lad with bags of potential who's seemingly lost his way a bit. Rather than off load him, we should be doing all we can when he's fit to get him back to the player he was.
This is the key part for me.

He has shown how good he can be, but has lost his way.
Would another club pay a big up front fee for a player that showed huge quality at a young age and has massive potential, but really hasn't shown it for some time?

A relatively low fee and a relatively high sell-on covers the club to an extent if he fulfils his potential elsewhere (a la Viktor G).

A sell-on clause isn't worth much if he stays at his next club until he's 30 though.

£40m + 30% sell-on and an extra £20m if he's at the buying club for 8 years or more?
