No, I don't want us to get relegated. I just know that if we are, I will enjoy the following season more, and will desperately hope that we get promoted again.

Feeling negative about the EPL does not equate to not wanting us to be there.

Unfortunately, we're not allowed to win promotion from the Championship every season!! (yeah, I get it...it would be great!), so I'm afraid I can't rationalise the two statements in your sentence "Feeling negative about the EPL does not equate to not wanting us to be there". Anyway :albion2:

promotions are amazing, loved us getting promoted to the premier league. But i've not enjoyed it one bit since we've been here

ideal scenario for me is that we're a yoyo club, experience the highs of promotion and then people can have a little tug over seeing de bruyne or whatever, we get relegated and repeat the process

The ideal scenario for you would be that the rules are changed so we can win the Championship each year, but decline the promotion to the Premier League. Good enough?!?!? :albion2:

There’s part of me that misses the Priestfield days and lower league football but equally watching the club progress in the premier league (all be it slowly) is also enjoyable.

6 for me

You're right, it's not easy to rationalise my feelings.

Basically, I want the Albion to be as successful as possible, but I have enjoyed the experience much more in the days before the EPL. I suppose what I am saying is it's not all about me!

Championship advantages

- No VAR.
- A 4-0 win against Rotherham at home on a cold Tuesday night. Satisfying.
- Winning becoming a habit.
- A couple of good London awaydays and plenty of southern matches (although could do with the top teams dropping down the table).
- More value for season ticket holders.
- Saturday 3pm becomes the norm.

I. Really dislike the Premiership. The prima Donna superstars, the millionaire attitudes, and now it has been really messed up by VAR and this slide rule approach to refereeing. The recent rule changes on hand ball and offside are ridiculous.
For the first time I have ended games this season, not only disappointed but angry ... If the human eye can’t see an infringement then it need not count.
It gets so bad that if we should get relegated , it would be s blessed relief

I can't imagine anything worse than being a yoyo team.

Perpetual mediocrity. Never being the best. Just bouncing about being a little puppy dog/feeder club of the Prem.

by premier league standards Brighton will always be "mediocre". What do you think is the highest we can finish? 8th? 9th? Even that is stretching it

barring investment from some Chinese multi billionaire or whatever, that is our fate

and that's fine, there's nothing wrong with that

but at least yo-yoing gives us occasional seasons of glory

To me, Football is entertainment. I dont enjoy being trounced every week. Im not in it so I can watch us play/get hammered by United/City/Spurs etc. Potterball has been more entertaining but the last 6 months of Sir Chris of Hughton was soooo painful. Watched a bit of Palace Vs Burnley a couple of weeks ago and it was just 2 teams trying to stay in the Premier League at all costs. No entertainment value what so ever. The Championship and in fact League 1 were entertaining when we were winning and going places.

Different challenge. Being in the Championship means we would probably win more competitive matches.

We have to accept we are punching above our weight by just being in the Premier League. We have one of the smallest budgets with players who give their all. Ok, for many matches our players, man for man are not as good as the opposition players but they try their hardest. Their commitment to the cause is faultless.

The "Potter out" brigade are just EA Sports Championship Managers. Suggest they start to live in the real rather than the virtual world.

So a 10 for me, just because we are fighting against all odds. There is no bigger challenge in football for a club of our historic size to stay in The Premier League.

P.S. Please Paul Barber, can you put me in tier 1 for all future home matches until further notice,

Gone for a 9 because I always think there should be room for improvement.

That said, excluding the last 9 months with the pandemic, just loving it. Have been to pretty much every game home and away. Great days out travelling by train, in the main only spoilt by 90 minutes of football!!!!. Was lucky enough to start following the club just before Mullery joined and it's been a rollercoaster but I'm appreciating top flight football more this time around, probably because when you go to away games, you aren't herded like cattle.

Another thing I don’t like is the lack of accessibility to less well off fans, but that probably wasn’t to different to The Championship, so it’s a problem with football in general. People who I used to go with in the League 1 days don’t even go anymore.

That applies to many things in life. Take concerts by leading artists. You need a mortgage to get decent tickets.

So, that brings me to my biggest ‘complaint’. The away support/crowds don’t seem as good as the League 1 days, like a lot of those don’t even get tickets. I don’t mean to be ageist, and I’m not saying they don’t deserve tickets, but there seems be a lot more quiet 60+ types at the away games these days and I don’t remember seeing them in the League 1 away games! (Yes, I get that they would’ve been about 50 back then)
But there are a lot of us that have been going for years. I think part of the reason that, particularly for Hughton second season in the EPL (the first was just a joyride) the football was so desperately dire.

A big thing for me is really getting behind the team at away games, no matter what and that doesn’t seem to happen now and MAYBE it’s because too many quiet season ticket holders snap up the tickets. Arsenal away last season sticks in my mind.

The people that get the season tickets are those that have loyalty points and they have those because they've been going to away games longer so your argument doesn't quite stack up.

To one jott....getting there was much better than being there

Beating manure was probably the best, and of course the arse.....but apart from that it’s one massive disappointment

9.
I love it and in much the same way as I enjoyed the journey to being a premier League team I am also enjoying seeing us evolve into an established top 10 side.
I love being part of the whole global premier League football extravaganza.
I took a point off for VAR because I think it's shit.

Interestingly more now that we're on the tele every week! Also the brokenness of the Championship (financially) since listening to Price of Football makes me less nostalgic for 2nd tier football.

I would watch Albion in any league. Habit of a lifetime

Plus
Have enjoyed watching and competing against some of best players teams in the world. Good atmosphere in 30k plus gates every game May seem strange but as a supporter like us am delighted for Tony Bloom.

Minus
Just think wages paid to players is immoral. Some very ordinary. Sure down to players and senior management wages but cant get over club has income of £140m plus and still lose money. Wont go back to days of goals scored when player miles off side so VAR will stay However must improve and let ref give decisions for penalties and change hand ball rule.
With £100m plus income for every club apart from hospitality, tickets should be no more then £"20/25.which would enable the many who cant afford/justify to go to go to some games.. With penalties given for nothing will be job to stop the diving but would be a start to give out more bookings
