A lot boils down to results and performances really. You can put up with some of what you mention (my main gripe is the kick off times) if you're doing well.

I feel the explanation of VAR decisions for fans in stadiums still needs to be addressing though (not been a big issue recently obvs).

This one will do fine.

I want to know if people are enjoying the experience, not where we should be playing. Because, believe it or not, if enough people complain about VAR and 5.30 kick offs on a Monday these twin evils might be at least tweaked, if there is anyone out there who still gives a toss about the fans. And, if there isn't that's perfect reason enough to vote with a low number.

I can remember playing Watford at home in our first Premier League season when they had done some previous yo-yoing. On the train from Brighton to Falmer were four Watford lads who I would say were late 20s / early 30s. Pissed as lords, dressed as Super Mario characters and still chugging Stella. They spent the whole journey telling my impressionable 11 year old son and his mate how much more fun The Championship was, how shit the Premier League was and how relegation really wouldn't be the end of the world.

Ah. OK. In which case I'm with others for whom a win is 10 and a defeat is 0, except with everything multiplied by a number from 4-1 depending on whether we are in the EPL or one of the 3 tiers below.

6. There a lot of downsides; diving, VAR, lower standard of refs than the Championship, perpetual relegation battles, stupid wages and transfer fees, flaky, plastic supporters.
HOWEVER, some of the football is sublime and watching Brighton teams match the quality is still a joy. Until Covid I was still enjoying the novelty of trips to the bigger clubs.
Get rid of VAR and clamp down on diving and I move up to a 9. Do neither and I could be a 4 by the Summer.

I'd go for a 7.
We play in arguably the best league in the world, we have some top quality players, an amazing stadium and world class training facilities, an owner who genuinely loves the club, it's amazingly well run.
Obvious downsides are the lack of wins and the way VAR can totally decimate a game.
All in all, I think when it all starts to click on the pitch, we will find being in this league a lot more fun than it currently is, and I know I'm guilty of the odd rant but whatever happens, it's all part of the BHA story and we've been through way worse than losing a few games. Glad to be a part of it.

6 Love the quality of players and football we are playing. Love the fact that we are on TV every game (Here anyway)

Miss being in the top half of the table and winning regularly.
The last few seasons in the championship were brilliant. (Thanks CH and Oscar !)
So was the promotion season in L1 (Thanks Gus!)

Even though there are many things I hate about the corporate game that now is football in the Prem, for me the scarcity of wins ironically makes them all the more enjoyable.

Only last night I rewatched the win over Spurs from last season like it was yesterday. Even the 3-2 win over Man Utd got an airing at the weekend from 2 seasons back. Wins in the Prem for us might be as rare as hen's teeth but at least you can savour them for months if not years, unlike the Liverpool's who win almost every week.

Don't like it much at all and var is almost the final straw. I can probably count on one hand the number of home games I have really enjoyed over the past 3 and a bit seasons. I would hate relegation as I love the club, but a large part of me will be glad to be back in a more entertaining and competitive league which crucially has no outside interference from farcical remote refereeing decisions.

I'm dreading the time when we're are relegated back to The Championship, spending frustrating season after season trying to get back to the holy land... just like all the other relegated teams do.

Agree with rest of your post but this line i keep hearing and is alot of why the football world are now put off us after being very likeable when struggling.

It's arrogant to think we will be pushing to get straight back.

Anything can happen and nothing is certain in that league. We wouldn't be a big club even in that league.

Even more reason to be happy with what we have

I am ten whatever division we are in, happy to survive and have a super club with the right people in charge. Football isn't, wasn't and won't be perfect, get on with it. I played at the lowest possible level paid £5 a game so know what I am talking about.................

It's definitely more enjoyable going into games worried that the opposition has Kevin DeBruyne rather than Fernando Forestiere.

Decrying Gross' lack of pace is better than doing it for Darren Currie.

On a selfish level, lots more TV games is good for me as I can only get to a handful of games. Moaning about being last on MOTD is better than not being on it.

Put me down as a 7.
9 if we win tonight.
3 if we lose.

I'm amending that to an 8.

Getting unreasonably optimistic about tonight's game.

Also being in the prem means that we're not going to have to come to terms with selling our best player to Wycombe.

not much. the constant pause when you score in case of var has sapped any enjoyment. it may have been the best league in the world once upon a time. but now it is a poorly run, bloated shit show. how we can get back down to proper grounds, real teams and genuine honest football next year. that is if they survive that long.

So then are some (many?) fans saying they'd sooner be in the Championship...and what, forever? Because if you don't enjoy Brighton being in the Premier League then you wouldn't want us to win promotion, would you? Promotion would be a crazy goal, yes? Surely we all need aspiration to improve or we simply go backwards. It's the Premier League for me, and, if we get relegated, stay with Potter and aim for Promotion again. What other goal is there?!

£5 a game?!?!? When I was a lad, living in a shoe box on the Old Shoreham Road, it was £2 and 3 shillings for a game, and not a penny more!

promotions are amazing, loved us getting promoted to the premier league. But i've not enjoyed it one bit since we've been here

ideal scenario for me is that we're a yoyo club, experience the highs of promotion and then people can have a little tug over seeing de bruyne or whatever, we get relegated and repeat the process

A few rumblings on other threads, so time for a definitive POLL.

How much are you loving the Premier League experience on a scale of 1-10. One being that you have given up watching or are about to due to the PL and 10 being that it is the best thing since a Peter Ward hattrick.

I am about a 3 I think. VAR, games you have little or no hope in and stupid kick off times have made the PL the thing I should have been careful I wished for. Diving, big team bias and some woeful punditry do not help either. I would personally be happy with a few seasons in the Championship. However, I understand fully this does not work for the club as an organisation and its owners and leaders. It's a totally personal preference, not a statement of ambition.

Do away with VAR and become a little more competitive, however, and I'm sure my vote would change to much more towards the top of the scale.

You?

Yes, this pretty much could have been written by me, except it would have made much less sense and had a lot more typos in it.

One thing I will say is that I fell in love with the Albion when I went to my first match, without that connection it just seems so hollow. Even when I couldn't get to every match I'd still have that catch up with the blokes around me at the next match, seeing what they'd been up to, discussing the match I'd missed. Without that it just seems a bit meh, I might as well watch the soaps or a film for the difference it makes. I'd hate to be an armchair plastic, the poor souls.

No, I don't want us to get relegated. I just know that if we are, I will enjoy the following season more, and will desperately hope that we get promoted again.

Feeling negative about the EPL does not equate to not wanting us to be there.
