Thanks, so fairly low on mental illness "The prevalence of neurotic disorder (mainly anxiety and depression) was similar
in both hostel and private sector leased accommodation (PSLA) residents at 35-
38%.
But higher on drink and drug abuse.
I bet they are soul destroying. I would imagine unlike PP who stated " most homeless people in this country are suffering from some type of mental illness" that many are severely depressed, but as the Shelter figures showed definitely not " most homeless people in this country are suffering from some type of mental illness".
...
Yes, we definitely needed another thread on immigration and refugees. Especially one with the same people making the same point yet again.
I'm being pompous perhaps, but not a know-all. You have to admit, this gets discussed ad nauseum every single week. But we definitely did not need a pompous know-all, who is clearly fed up with it and yet visits the thread.
Weird how people take out of stats to fit their mindset, i read the stats as showing that those currently on the streets were likely around 60%, those in temporary accommodation lower.

So that is "most" is it. The fact that it is lower in temporary accommodation could mean that housing our homeless could bring your "most" down to an even lower number.
this latest flood of migrants/refugees from Northern Africa , Afghanistan , Syria and Iraq represents an enormous problem for Europe , as soon as they landed on the Greek Islands they were fighting amongst themselves , the internet is awash with film of the upheaval caused as these people arrive in Europe and yet some people seem to think that they should be allowed in and that everything will be fine, which, in my opinion , in this instance , is clueless.....!!! There was a massive Arab community in Sydney when i lived there , they do not integrate , they do not want to integrate......that is a fact....!!
It strikes me that there is a hidden benefit to the refugee crisis. People who have ignored the homeless for years are suddenly all about helping them. Shelter and the other charities must be snowed under at the moment.
Poor girl. Sooner we get a decent government who gets the importance of proper border controls in this country the better.

Can't be deported as they are British Citizens and fully entitled to the benefits their status brings .
.
I am all in favour of Syrian Refugees. as long as
1 We remove twice as many illegals who should be removed anyway! To make room for them.
Preference is Given to Christian and Yadzi/Devil worshippers as they are the most at risk.
I have absolutely no idea what this means. I've just said they provide a £5bn surplus. That's after taking into account any prejudicial notion of widespread and systemic 'benefit scrounging', or 'greediness', which incidentally, EU immigrants are less likely, pro rata, to claim than UK natives.
Again, can you provide first-hand evidence to back up the claim that four in every five defendants at the Old Bailey have 'foreign surnames'?
So out of 2m asylum seekers making their way across Europe, 5,000 have pitched up in Calais wanting to head to the UK. Seeing as immigrants make a net contribution to the economy, can you tell me, again using first-source evidence where the assumption lies that they are 'greedy'?
France, by the way, is taking in more refugees than the UK.
Just asking mind , where is the proof they provide a £5bln surplus ?
I'm not when it is done like this. I thought it was women and children, that's what the government where telling us.
