Sure this falls in to the " Community Stadium " bracket ? Yes it's not always about the Albion. This gives locals a chance to see top quality International Ladies Football, something to be proud of and may just enthuse local players of either sex to aspire to top level football.

A lot of clubs will completely replace the turf on their pitch either every summer or every other summer. Hosting a major tournament means they aren't able to do that so wouldn't want start the season with a poor quality pitch. Presumably we have a lot of faith in our grounds staff to maintain the pitch.

It seems very unlikely but the club could be growing a new AMEX pitch at Lancing ready to drop in during the World Cup.

Apologies if fixtures, but noticed last night the new(?) platform the pundits were talking from at half and full time. It was in the South-West corner, and looked to be at the level of the top of the screen. Nice glass fronted thing.

Has that been there before? If not, has that been added for the Euros matches? And if so, hopefully will be staying. Could THAT also be a further benefit for the club?

Was sat below it last night…..Wrighty and Scott were great fun engaging with the crowd below (incidentally I didn’t think the view of the pitch from that corner was that great though)

That was specifically built for the Euros over the southern end of the the mid tier of the West Stand.

For all the stadium's bells and whistles, there weren't the TV media facilities available for all of the various European broadcasters to set up in the various rooms around the ground. Many broadcasters set themselves up pitchside.

It will be to the club's detriment to keep that there as that denies them sales of about 400 tickets per game.

It’s not going to be a permanent thing as it’s been built over the seats that are already in that corner.

i noticed at both games how immaculate the pitch looked, I seem to recal at the end of the season it was starting to look a bit worn in the north goal at least. It looks like the goal areas have been re-turfed at least.

The Amex pitch is usually new each year but I didnt think it was done last year because of the shortened off season due to Covid, and again this season due to the Euros. If trhats right that pitch is amazing, it looks new and has possibly has two full seasons on it

The club, city and local hotels, shops, Pubs, Coffee Shops etc all benefit financially.
The exposure hosting the Euro's which is beamed back all around Europe and beyond, is pure gold to club and city.

Best thing for the club now is if Sweden beats Belgium and then also beats England, since Brighton gets some money every day that Emma Kullberg remains in the tournament.

All of this. I'm sure those investing heavily in women's football right now are doing so because (i) they can afford to do so, and (ii) are taking a long-term view, which is the true test of sustainability.

Women's football is currently the fastest growing sport in the world (including in the UK), so for those that have done their forecasts and believe this growth will continue - along with the future revenue streams that presents - it makes sense to get in at the beginning. To implement a short-term financial sustainability metric on the game will strangle it at birth so I'm sure club owners running a women's side are looking 10, 15, 20 years down the line at what it could become, given the right conditions for growth.

The local club my son plays for also runs girls teams across every age group from u7s to u17s and interest and participation from girls has rocketed over the past couple of years. After these Euros I'm fully expecting we will have a waiting list of girls wanting to join squads when we all get together again after the summer. As a club overall we are far stronger with the additional revenues the girls teams bring in thro' subs, plus we have another pool of parents to help run the club, prepare pitches, support fund raising activities etc. Everyone benefits - and best of all, local girls who want to play competitive football have a decent, well-run club they can join, be an equal part of and be proud to pull on the shirt for.

There was a great piece by Lucy Bronze aired before kick-off last night. It was her talking about every step of her footballing life and basically saying it's hard, but you can do it. Look what I achieved. This could be you. A great message to all young girls starting out in the sport.
