As well as the money and the prestige for the club, there were loads of kids at both games I went to who were getting their first experience of football. If they're local and loved it, some will come back. So that can only be a good thing too.

i noticed at both games how immaculate the pitch looked, I seem to recal at the end of the season it was starting to look a bit worn in the north goal at least. It looks like the goal areas have been re-turfed at least.

The Amex pitch is usually new each year but I didnt think it was done last year because of the shortened off season due to Covid, and again this season due to the Euros. If trhats right that pitch is amazing, it looks new and has possibly has two full seasons on it

I think that the pitch was ripped up and relaid as soon as last season finished . It is quite incredible when you look at old match reruns on the tv and see the state of pitches that even the first division played on back then , there were a lot of sticky mudbaths . The advances in pitch creation and maintenance backed by modern tech ( sprinkler systems , lamps , fans to blow across the pitch , undersoil heating etc ) are remarkable and almost taken for granted now .
Something that i thought about driving home last night in the light of a fantastic experience and atmosphere is that our ground is now permanently linked to the 8-0 group game and a quarter final comeback extra time win and even if most signage was covered up the words Brighton and Hove were clearly visible in the ground and mentioned a lot in the coverage surely one of the most positive things to come out of the tournament for BHA !
Good thing we didn't lose then and give them up the road something to rib us about .
