I'm not saying that the BBC read NSC and decided to sack a radio presenter. I'm saying that someone read NSC and got sufficiently fired up about things to complain direct to the BBC - who then acted.

Do you have access to BBC complaints files?

Apology accepted.

Or should we now petition the Hastings Observer to have you sacked?

:)

Don't do it - I know a pretty young lady at Hastings Borough Council who would miss his incessant phone calls and bizarre questions.

:dunce: :jester:

Seriously though, and even though I know (think) you were only joking, Richie made that comment on a website as Richie Morris. If he wrote it in the Observer under his byline, then I would hope that would be different kettle of fish. Give it a try Richie, it will probably get through....

"PC Gone Mad" is the cretinous fall back position of the intellectual couch potato.

Bollocks is it. He has been sacked because of the PC brigade and the way every comment is picked up and subject to scrutiny.

The reference to window lickers was a joke way of saying he thought some people on here are pretty stupid. Now its alleged he was having a pop at disabled or people with mental problems.

Its pathetic and IMHO PC gone mad.

We now live in a society that moans and sues anything that moves, so that people feel better. Who benefits from Hawes or Hart being sacked? Both are top people and people like Hart do charity work that would put 99% of the people on this board to shame. He should just say f*ck it all I wont do anything know, let the moaning, complaining tw*ts do it!

!

Because he was, he was essentially saying if you disagree, you must be a retard/spastic

If we lose the fans phone in, and also the comm on top of this, how unfair on the decent people. What a blow for supporters.

The club will suffer too-many Seagulls World subscriptions will probably be stopped without live commentary.

but at least that wanker Harty lost his job :thud:

thats what people wanted when they complained, and they got it!

Be surprised if the commentary stopped, Brett. On the basis of this, should we assume that if Hawesy and Harty had retired/been offered better jobs/died then BBC SCR would have stopped covering games? Probably not.

Standing in the way of control
Mixed feelings on this one.

Of course they didn't genuinely mean offence, and the fact that the people who have complained are (by the looks of it on here) the usual high-and-mighty, shocked-at-photos-of-distressed-kittens, 2.4 children dullards adds to the feeling of sympathy for the BBC guys.

On the other hand, this has been coming for so long I'm amazed it's taken til now. Off the top of my head I can think of the time FG (a known, repeated racist poster on here) was welcomed on the show and the comment about Joleon Lescott's face, both times when I felt Harty was way out of line and said so on here.

If it ensures it won't happen again, the moaners agree to get a grip and no-one gets sacked everyone'll be a winner.

I am not suggesting covering games will stop, there will be commentary, as it is a service paid for by the club to fulfil their Seagulls World commitments. The guy doing it, I have never heard of but good luck to him. There will be no phone in tomorrow, I am just sad to see a good guy lose his job over something that is pretty much a stupid little mistake, that in the context of the whole world at the moment means very little

The commentator has been taken care of for tomorrows match. If common sense prevails Harty & Hawesy will be given a severe reprimand and a nominal suspension period. The BBC and SW have a contract to provide live radio commentary so they are duty bound to get a replacement in. What would be classic is for either Johnny Byrne or Sir Norman Gull to say "f***" or "c*nt" live on air tomorrow to bring things back in perspective

Tell the pretty young lady at the Council to slip it into one of her press releases...

Have they actually gone for good or just been suspended?
