Also Rest of World let him get on with things for too long as they thought he would back down, so he got off to a flier.

Those who ignore history are condemned to repeat it.

the british had an idea to stop him within months of the war starting but it needed the french to help but they surrendered instead

Sometimes you read some thing on here that lifts your heart knowing what kind of fans we have, like the REMF, Mari Harding stuff, then you read pieces of absolute SHIT like this and you realise, that there are some people on here that are obviously proceeds from an experiment to mate an ameoba and an extremely stupid slug.

"....but they surrendered instead...."

I think that qualifies you for the title of best poster on NSC...congratulations

it gets better!

"Hitler Banned foxhunting, indeed he did in 1934 as one of your members has mentioned. He dispatched his Bavarian Gestapo to the hunt kennels who ordered the huntsmen to shoot all the hounds. Those huntsmen who refused were themsleves instantly shot by the Gestapo police. Hitler's reason for banning hunting had nothing to do with animal welfare. He was concerned that foxhunters, who he regarded as anglophile spies, would along with all the members of the hunt, encounter a concentration camp or the acres of armaments that he was amassing, whilst out hunting bearing in mind the run or line of a fox is wholly unpredictable. As many people said after world war II and who had hunting in Germany, if they had been able to continue hunting they could have monitored the arms build up and the building of the concen tration camps."

"Hitler was in fact very fond of the Brighton Pavilion, which he had of course only ever seen in pictures. German records were found at the end of the Second World War that showed the Nazis planned to spare the Pavilion from bombing because it had been earmarked as a suitable seaside residence for the Fuhrer.

How nice!

Dave's right, you can't blame the French for surrendernig, their country was taken before they could really do anything about it, However I do LOVE the phrase 'cheese eating surrender monkeys'.

Yeah, its a very good phrase. Similar to the phrase... the whole villiage population being put up against a wall and shot because of the resistance to the occupation by the Germans...

There are some things that people forget but shouldn't. For everybody who hates the French, just be thankful that the resistance was there as if it wasn't then D-Day probably would not have been sucessful as it was and we would all be speaking German - or seeing as the majority of men were carted off for slave labout to Germany, perhaps we wouldn't be here after all.

Not clever(!?) I'd like to see you try to take over the whole of Europe. Not an idiot either, just mad.

doing abit of Hitler-Brighton rumour research and found this quite interesting:

"Hitler was in fact very fond of the Brighton Pavilion, which he had of course only ever seen in pictures. German records were found at the end of the Second World War that showed the Nazis planned to spare the Pavilion from bombing because it had been earmarked as a suitable seaside residence for the Fuhrer. Goering, a noted art lover as well as the head of the German air force, also had his eye on the building as a nice place to live."

So they would've imagined it as some sort of exotic Indian palace.

They would've been shocked if they saw the inside of it!

I think the Nazis were planning to use Brighton as there HQ when they invaded England. That is the reason why Brighton was not bombed to the same level as the other towns and cities in England.

I personally think we were lucky that Mussolini was such a stupid fat clown otherwise fascism could have reigned Europe, I wonder what that would have been like?

A wonderful opportunist, who made the fatal error of starting to believe his own myth (Ian Kershaw has written a very good book on this).

Twisted so and so, but managed to convert millions to his cause, by slating the war time reparations and the guilt complex instilled by the Wiemar Republic.

He was a joke, the fact that he got into power shows just how stoopid Italians are.

That's because they knew that Brighton is great! As long as they didn't rename it the Herman Goering Pier!

Bullock's "Hitler - a Study in Tyranny" is a superb book, even if it was written about 40 years ago.

Amazed me that the guy was still up to scoring the equaliser against us last night!

Hitler was a clown for having so much faith in Mussolini. He rated him highly after Mussolini allowed the Nazis to annex Austria in 1938.
