I think we would be EXACTLY the same if the roles had been reversed.

How do you expect them to react?

"Oh how marvellous, were playing those nice chaps from Brighton on Saturday. You know, those sporting fellows who sent us into The Conference where we had to wait 9 years before returning to the Football League. How splendid."

Do me a favour.

Absolutely pathetic that they're bringing so few though.

totally agree ian

any club that is relegated my another - particularly to non league - is going to feel a bit of hatred towards them. its exactly the same as some brighton fans not liking warnock for notts county beating us in the play offs, for not liking man united because of 1983

except we relegated them from PROFESIONAL football

Hang on - didn't they play 22 other teams apart from us that season ? Didn't those other 22 teams also contributed towards Herefords relegation ? I honestly didn't realise them dropping into the pub league was all OUR fault.

It was all our fault, clearly!

I think I'm right in saying they were 15 points clear of us at Christmas that season. They f**ked it up big time to get relegated, especially below us. cos we were poor.

But still, I do like to hold a grudge too. I'd be the same.

I would have thought that they might have sacked the manager after being relegated when they were just about safe two months before the end of the 1996/7 season.

BUT NO!! HE'S STILL IN CHARGE ELEVEN YEARS LATER!!

That's what I call stability

Taken from [url="http://Brighton should've gone down in 1997, their fans still think today that attacking an oppositions players and performing pitch invasions are the correct things to do in football.
:

My memory may be failing but didn't Hereford fans invade the pitch at HALF TIME taking the piss and laughing at us and being restrained around the half way line??

AND we had two points DEDUCTED

Their hatred for us, as I have said on another thread, is unbelievable, and I am fully bracing myself for some sort of aggro, they hate us with a passion more than we seem to hate Leeds (who have apparently taken over from Palace as the team we refer to as scum)

I can see why they would have a hatred for us to be honest, as some of them say the country seemed to get behind us and forget about Hereford. We relegated them to a league they spent 9 years trying to get out of, playing against shite like Barrow while we were having days out against Sunderland/Portsmouth/Spurs/Leeds/Sheffield United ect. If the roles were reversed I could see plenty of our fans holding a grudge.

The fact they threw away so many points is forgotten as it was us who sent them down, im convinced it would be the same the other way round (if we had survived being relegated)

Indeed, I think when we go up there next year it will be pretty hostile, but I still think we will win.

Tomorrow maybe a good day to do another RETRO day and dig out ye olde Sandtex Shirts

I always felt that we had a bit of luck that year in that Hereford finished level on points with us with a better goal difference, but we stayed up having scored more goals due to a one off rule change by the football league that season!

Just under 300 travelling for their biggest League game in years? Pathetic.

I've no doubt we will have at least three times that number for the return match - one for which we couldn't give a shit about.

This 'hatred' stuff is childish, pathetic nonsense.

What were we supposed to do at Hereford - let them win?

What were United supposed to do at Wembley - let us win?

If we had been relegated at Hereford, why on earth would it have been Hereford's fault? I can think of three gentlemen whose actions in the boardroom led to our being so awful that season, and they are far more deserving of hatred than an oppostion team who were simply doing their job.

Grow up hate-mongers.

It's not unlike the sad fucks on here who swear that Man U are the most scummiest club in the universe because they had the audacity to win in 1983.

showing your age are we, my "hatred" of united has nothing really to do with 1983, although my hatred of :tosser: Whiteside has. I know you talk rubbish most days but at least avoid talking rubbish about which happened before you we born.

None of your buisness
Bitter bastards, the change of rules (goals for) for that season obviously didn't help them and the fact we never got deducted all the points some cruel bastards were hoping for didn't please them either but if they really want to be that bitter then they should be blamming Jimmy Hill for his 3 points for a win idea. Hereford and us would of survived if it been 2 points for a win so HUH!!!!!

We were even LUCKIER the following year.

In 1997/98 we won 7 FEWER games, scored 25 FEWER goals and got 12 FEWER points

It was only the spectacular SHITTINESS of Doncaster Rovers that kept us up.

By the way, THREE of the teams who were in our league in 96/97 are now in The Premier League
