My air conditioning came on for the first time a couple of days ago.

Turned it off 4 weeks ago, but Mrs Giraffe lapsed for a day or two when it was chilly. Had to light the log burner for a couple of evenings to prevent her repeating.

I go out for an evening and it costs a fortune in her heating costs because I'm not there to tut when she suggests it.

We moved house in February and haven’t had central heating since (condemned back boiler), a few nights have been a little on the chilly side.

To get an early ball rolling on 9 months worth of nsc moaning :lolol: .

First of all, when will this summer of endless rain and cool temperatures end? Did we even have a summer 2024?

Then, anyone here tempted yet to dust off the central heating?
It is now. Moreover, log fire burning too. Feck me it’s cold and damp. Endlessly this year. Come on El Nino, enough enough!

It was cold enough for the thermostat to turn it on the other morning here too. It is meteorological summer starting tomorrow isn't it?

If you're cold, wear a jumper....and put some big boy trousers on!
It's not cold unless there is ice INSIDE the window and the carpets ripple with the draught. I remember having to walk fifteen miles bare foot in the snow uphill both ways to use the outhouse, monkeys roamed the streets looking for a welder....
However, with the advent of double glazing, cavity and loft insulation, central heating and indoor plumbing, plus the onsetting of age, it makes us more susceptible to feeling of cold. The first sentence rings true, the next not so much, except the brass monkey thing which, apparently is what they called the plate that held cannon balls. When it was really cold, the brass contracted making the balls roll off, hence the saying
I can't wait for the start of the season:(

Definilty not warm at the moment and a brisk northerly too. That said, there is no way the heating is goign on in late May / early June, hell would have to freeze over first.

went to bed last night and the bedroom was roasting - realised the thermostat was moved/tidied to a windowsill with the window open. had back door open for dog so was unaware that i was burning money.

turned it down and moved to where it should be, then had to open windows to cool the house down.

literally burning money
