Winter duvet went on last night, but still no heating here in cold central. But the aga has been on in the kitchen for several weeks now...

The people I know with AGA’s eg clients who love in the countryside mention that they give an ambient warmth to their entire homes / take the chill off the air.

I've still not got my head round the new (2 year old) thermostat and the heating came on by mistake a couple of times. I had to have a stern word with myself over that, and it's now firmly switched off, unless MrsBC makes a special request in triplicate.

Still not on as its still relatively mild. But, they will go on early next week for the first time as temperatures are about to plummet.

Have to admit I've been quite liberal with the heating this year. On for an hour most afternoons around 4ish and that sees us through the night. Plenty of money in the energy account, prices aren't as crazy, as the last couple of years, I've learned to relax and not get anxious about this now. 😁

One thing that has made a huge difference. I got a Vaillant engineer out to service the boiler this year and this chap seemed to really know his stuff. He changed a couple of bits and changed several settings and said the boiler was working at it's absolute best efficiency wise now. We'll see if it makes a difference.

Is that how Mrs BC explained it “it came on by mistake, both times (that you know of)”😉

Ms BC was visiting for 'reading week' last week so I was browbeaten into putting it on. Now she has returned to her centrally heated University flat in the snowy north, I'm fighting a rearguard action by gradually lowering the thermostat temperature, turning radiators down and reducing the hours the CH is on.

On NSC for over two decades...
Based on the weather forecast I have turned the flow temperature up to 60C.

Unsurprisingly the central heating came on this morning. It'll be interesting to see if it turns itself off again at any point.
