Wasn't it an interest free type loan?
Yes, which is the same thing as FREE money. But even if the club can't pay him back, he's unlikely to wind up the club.

HKFC is right. It IS a gift, to all intents and purposes. Without Bloom, we'd have no ground.

He said at Seagulls over London that he wasn't going to get any of the money back. So he's basically paid for the stadium and doesn't want anything back for it now or in the future. I cant remember the exact wording though, it may have been doesnt expect it, or expect much of it.

I fear some people may moan about him if he doesn't invest loads in players but anyone who puts 80m of their own money into our stadium without wanting anything back is just a complete and utter legend really.

Well its securing out future in that we will have a stadium and can make money rather than lose money like we do at Withdean.

He certainly has the money to invest in the squad but not the millions upon millions some may think. It will be done sensibly like you say.

and good job too. What BHA have achieved over the last 10yrs is incredible just to survive, I don't think Bloom or Poyet are interested in making marque signings just to big themselves up and risk plunging the club into crisis.

If a player wants to leave, let them, what other job are you expected to stay on in, if you are not happy?

I agree whole heartedly.

If he put forth a 5 year plan where his investment was to be 100m and that takes in the costs of the stadium then no true fan could take issue with the club having to sell every now and then to stay within this budget(if the above was the case).

It would just show we are being managed by people with a great deal of financial sensibility.

Which makes me feel content we have a bright future.

He'll be taking rent from the club, presumably.

Well as long as we don't get a whopping fine for late payment when he is in control of when the payments are made like Stanley used to do, we''ll be fine.

Isn't he the major shareholder in the Stadium Company and the club will rent it from them?

He is also the major shareholder in the club - to all intents and purposes the two entities are one and the same and from meeting him at Seagulls Over London, I can ASSURE you that he will not be charging the club anything to use the ground.

As for the other question of finance, he's said repeatedly that he wants the club to be in the Championship when Falmer opens. He's not stupid, and he knows that that will require a significant (but still sensible) investment in the playing staff.

Thing is, it basically IS, isn't it.

The Falmer part of the loans (£93M? in total) from TB is repayable in 2025 I thought? The existing loans from him that have been keeping us going at Withdean were converted into new stock/shares last year, thus giving him a majority shareholding and enabling him to take over the club. Who knows what the situation will be in 15 years time but on the face of it atm it's a loan not a gift.

I was hoping we'd keep all our current starting 11 and add to it with 3 or 4 additional signings. i think selling Crofts would be a big mistake and one we no longer need to make for a couple of hundred grand.

Shame, we could have built a side around Crofts. Where's the continuity? As you say, we don't need to make a fast buck anymore. Disappointing.

That is my reading of the situation.

Yeah when it was announced the impression I got was a loan with repayments that would start in 2023. However at the SOL meeting he was quite admant that he's not looking to get his money back. His words were along the lines of, I'm paying for the stadium and I dont want the money back.

Was this not technically a loan but he was going to get shares instead of money in return, in 2025. So he would be correct in what he told SOL, he is not expecting to get the money back.

Having had conversations with a couple of agents in the last (including the one who gave the insight into the Hammond negotiations) one of the big selling points of a move to Brighton in the past has been that we will always allow players to move on if a good career enhancing deal for them comes along. It helps when selling the club to players dropping a division or joining from non league.

I think if we let Crofts go for a decent price - whilst it is a short term loss, it should continue to show us as a club who will support our players if good opportunities come along and therefore help with attracting his replacement.

Sensible & now with the added value of working with Gus & all the other future prospects we have being a club that is truly on the rise I think we can tempt a fair few players to join the revolution.

I won't panic or fret over Crofts & Calderon leaving as I firmly believe we have a manager who is supported by a Chairman who actually has the clubs future at heart & very much secured, we will continue to grow into an exciting outfit.

Gus WILL lead us out at Falmer & we will either be playing in The Championship when he does so or having just missed out on promotion be ready & able for a promotion winning season in our new home which is no bad thing. The next 2 seasons are going to be the best this club has had in a very long time so we just need to get behind the team & Gus & ensure that players want to be a part of the revolution & other teams hate the thought of playing against us.
