I thought that Adams would play Virgo upfront to be honest. After all he has been banging on about getting the ball wide and getting crosses into the box. So with that in mind Virgs should have been our target man.

Now, if he wasn't going for the "target man" style of play today (which we ended up doing anyway!) Why in the name of sweet jesus didn't he start Jakey upfront!?
He is around about the same height as OGH, and has BAGS more pace with more skill and an eye for goal!

I'm sorry but MA got this one wrong.

Hart did ok but cannot remember him having a single shot.

I think Robinson, Gatting, Gargan et al would perhaps have offered more of a goal threat.

That said Hart worked hard and linked up quite well on occasions. Certainly not the worst player on show but is it really moving forward having him up top?

I think maybe Adams remembers the Hart of 6 years ago or so when he left.

As I said on another thread. He look okay at right back when asked to cover last season. But as a frontman I'm afraid he can't cut it!

I'm looking forward to the binfest on here when OGH and KM both play in the same game in the 1st team. It will happen at some stage this season

Harts a great player got stuck in, did the job he was asked to do, thought the mistake was not subbing him for jake to inject some pace up front.

I am sure he may play there again some time this season.

Didn't they play LB & RB in the same game a few times last season?

Yeah but it's a season on and the controversy over both of them being retained has been a BIG feature of this pre-season on recent threads. Just imagine the opportunity at having two scapegoats, who you gonna plump for? :lolol:

Plenty of quality youngsters around that can offer more upfront than hart,i believe hart and mayo should have gone a long time ago.Not sure what sort of money they where on,but would like to know what they are on now:glare:

The club is far to soft and a major clearout was required..

Hart's positional sense seemed to me to much better. Neither of them got much service, but Hart was presenting more opportunities for a challenging ball to be played through than Virgo did.

Well said me lord !!Harty was no better or worse yesterday than anyone else in the strips. If Tommy Fraser the answer then God help us!!

OGH is a hero - but he did very little yesterday. Service was poor, we missed McLeod, we had our best defender on the left wing. But even allowing for that - he looked pretty poor.

Agree. If you're going to hoof it up to someone, make it a tall fella. Yesterday, the only option for that would have been Virgo.

Both Hart/Forster and Virgo/Forster were combinations which it appeared pretty evident hadn't played together before. It shows how much Murray and Forster are getting, and will continue to improve on, their mutual on-pitch understanding. And that sort of thing takes months - not days. Even a loan signing won't make a huge amount of difference to the combination.

However, it was a lacklustre midfield (all 33 combinations which played there) which occasionally got up to help the forwards. And with nothing really going right for Cox (what does Micky have against Robinson? - a like-for-like swap did appear to be a decent option), there was very little to fire on.

However, we could have put the 1970 version of Pele, or Van Basten, or the pre-Chelsea Schevchenko on, and that ref would still have f***ed it up for us.

A game for the players and management to learn from, and for us to forget.
