He has a wife, kids, mortgage etc. Dropping down a couple of divisions would have resulted in an even larger pay cut. Would you give up your job if you knew you weren't up to scratch or would you hang around and keep the salary?

Also, the fact that you can manage to get in the team for the second game of the season might be reason to think about staying...

Obviously I don't know the figures, but if he and Mayo have taken a "huge pay-cut" to stay is it not fair to assume they're probably not here for the money? I'd say it's more because it's the easy option. Hart surely could have got as much money somewhere else because he'd be a really good player in a slightly lower league.

Really? No offense to meant to Gary Hart, but in what position do you see him being a really good player and in what league? He didn't exactly set the world alight at Havant and Waterlooville last year did he.

Gary Hart is as much a spare part this season as he has been for the last couple of seasons.

Poor call to give him a further year.

Yeah but he went to Havant having not played for us for months. Noone is going to be at their best in that condition.

I would imagine that he would be "really good" in the conference this season. He's just lost the speed you need to compete in league one, but amongst non-league dross I'd still expect him to stand out.

As for finances, conference clubs can pay quite well, and I am sure he could have got as much if he found the right club at that level as he is here.

We'll have to agree to differ, but just out of interest, in which position woud he stand out at conference level?

I would send OGH out on loan to Lewes.

Agree with BOF, we must get another striker without delay, neither Hart or Virgo looked capable of scoring.

neither Hart or Virgo looked capable of scoring.

If Virgo had started up front then he might have built some kind of understanding with Forster, but I got the impression by the time Virgo got pushed up there Forster had lost interest in the game after trying to play alongside Hart. It looked a case of Forster had allready done it about 2 seconds before Hart thought about it.

To what aim? he has just completed a pre season so he must be fit. He's not a young player so will gain nothing from playing at conference level. How will it help?

From what I saw today, he didn't look fit. He was knackered after 35 minutes, he is off pace. And could of got a sent off....

I think to slag Hart off is to make him a scapegoat for a very lacklustre team performnce. I don't think anyone, (whether they played in position or out of position, bought for a set of tracksuits or hard cash, on a year contract or a longer contract), covered themselves in glory today.

The rumour and I stress it is only a rumour, that OGH and KM have taken a 60% pay cut to sign new contracts. although still on more than most on here earn. If that is true it is not just about money.

I would still prefer to bring on OGH than our other options as a substitute if we needed a goal, but not sure that either of them is right to start a game.

However, I think that says more about our lack of squad depth rather than Harts ability.
