Lets not forget the worlds biggest and heaviest snake the anaconda, certainly loves a big meal.

Not sure about that, it couldn't kill off Jon Voight's career, even though it gave it a good try.

i reckon nominations should stop at midnight tonight, british time, with the DRAW (for the land group) being made just after this (which i can do)

shall we seed the land group to keep two of the big boys apart?

Yeah, we could do. But only the real top dogs, there needs to be a random element that offers the chance of hotly fancied contenders getting knocked out.

TL & GNLF

Hang on a minute. You seem to be making the competion rules up as you go along?

Anyway its not a problem for me as I know that despite your best efforts to try and fix the result, the Goliath Bird Eating Spider will win in the end!

The rules are pretty simple Fazz. Four groups. A poll. The two animals per group with the most votes go through to the quaters where it becomes a straight knock out. Unless the format changes slightly....
Either way the animal with the most votes will win.

GNLF

Fair enough. I was a bit concerned that you and TL would be seen by fellow posters as having "moved the goalposts" regarding the rules of the competition. To use a football term.

By the way, will the Land draw be made "live" by TL on NSC tonight?

Second Horsefly - when they bite you you can feel your flesh tearing.

MBH

Excellent choice of Horsefly.

Although I am still a bit worried that this whole competition is being "fixed" by TL and GNLF and the winner is a foregone conclusion! ???

haha

no! i don't have a webcam

just be assured that its going to be fairly hard to RIG it as theres about 6 BEASTS that could easily win it

TL

This is exactly what I am talking about when I say the competition is fixed. As you and GNLF are clearly biased towards bigger mammals!

Unless you can confirm that one of the six BEASTS that you say could easily win it, is the Goliath Bird Eating Spider? ???

it has potential, but both of the land groups will be hard to get out of

i believe that it will eventually struggle due to its inability to fly

it'd probably progress from the AIR group
