I really hope we get of to a good start this season, as i think the crowd (at home) will turn on Poyet sooner than anyone thinks if we get off to a bad start playing his negative style.

'I think'

None of you have a clue.

Why say that? Seriously, it's a fans' forum, what are you expecting? A Sunday morning referee once said to me (after I'd had a go at him once too often) - "mate, if either of us were any good, we wouldn't be here would we?". Same goes for NSC.

No, but we know how much Gus wants to be in the Premier League. He says he'll stay while we keep improving, but will we improve enough?

Poyet's not going to the Premier league without us. There was enough movement in premeirship jobs this summer, and I don't recall anyone knocking our door down for Poyet.

If we fail to get promoted this season due to lack of goals despite having a very good midfield and defence, as we did last season, will Tony lose his patience and get rid of Gus:albion2:

I really think you should either go away and rethink whether you want to support Brighton & Hove Albion or alternatively just piss off and support some other poor unfortunate club. I don't think I have ever seen a positive let alone supportive post from you

I would have preferred a bit more moment in premeirship jobs personally. Glad there was enough for you.

what part of possession football do you think of as negative or do you prefer/understand a Sam Allardyce style of hoofball better? Seriously, I don't think I saw any negative football from us in the last two years. Sometimes our playing style has been negated but we have always kept trying to hold on to the ball and move it around the pitch. Even when it doesn't always work out I find it interesting at very worst and entertaining more often than not.

WHAT DRUGS ARE YOU ON TODAY

Gus has changed us from being league 1 strugglers into championship playoff contenders.

He has changed the mentality of the whole football club.

The only people who will ask questions about gus if we get off to a slow start are those that have no idea about how far we have come in such a short space of time .

Its negative in my opinion to slow the game down so much, that it allows the opposition to get every man behind the ball, and become very hard to break down. Playing a more direct style, doesn't mean having to play hoofball.

Oh dear

What on earth has he done wrong? We have one of the smallest budgets in the league, be greatful we've got a great team, great manager, great set of fans and a great board. We wouldn't be able to attract any better than Poyet.

Well said that man! I'd be more than happy to be challenging for playoffs again this season, which I'm sure will get me told off for showing a lack of ambition and that I'm supporting Albion 'wrong' for expressing such a drastic opinion (it's happened before...) but some of the squads in the division far outweigh ours in terms of strength in depth. Injury-free I'd be happy to watch us take on anyone, but even a mild crisis has the potential to screw us right up.

All of which I'm sure TB is aware of, he doesn't strike me as a man to have anything other than a grounded opinion of the club.

Which is why I said at home. After last seasons run in, Gus needs a good start, because the home crowd will turn sooner rather than later if last seasons end of season form, carries over into this one.

If we fail to get promoted this season due to lack of goals despite having a very good midfield and defence

Quick analysis:

Keeper: Couldn't even get to warm the bench at Old Trafford
Bridge: Injury prone and after being on loan to two bigger clubs in last two seasons they both were happy to give him back.
Greer: Ex..................Swindon
El Abd: Totally committed, but lacks pace.
Bruno: Looks like he could be a gem

Bridcutt: Great link between back four and midfield..........but often muscled off the ball in this division
Buckley: Billy Whizz, but hamstrings made of paper tissue
Crofts: Excellent signing
Vicente: Flair
Barnes: Marmite
Noone/KLL: Flatter to deceive
Harley/Spadge/Dicker: Ex Exeter/Scunthorpe/Stockport

There are some good players in that lot, but nothing to be frightened of (apart from Vicente) in this division.

It was so bad, that we've sold out of the extra seat season tickets and started a new waiting list for more. Poyet will be sacked by Bonfire Night you said (I've bookmarked it so that I can bounce it)

I'd have to disagree that measured equates to negative when the intent of possession is creative but I guess I prefer to see the positives in the side and enjoy the technical aspects of the game

I'll quote it again mate. If you are going to quote me at least do it in full. I said if we start the season with one win in ten, as we finished the previous one, then yes, I think Poyet will be gone by Bonfire Night. Slightly different to the way you quoted it there.

I don't think it matters so much, and it may seem a stupid thing to say, which exact position we end up in this season. We're building. And we're not the only ones. I doubt TB is sitting there desperate for the Premiership at all costs, so instead just looks in at keeping the commodity itself growing as a business and being able to increase budgets year on year to make us compete more. If we compete this year, slap some teams about the place and have those new elements of a squad that can both dazzle and sturdy us, then i'd treat that as a success.
There's only a very few nob-ends who think without longball larry football then we'll go nowhere. Yes, we need to be bigger and stronger and not be overpowered, but the dream has to remain that we, as a club and a business, represent a certain amount of class and design. Let's keep polishing the image, that should attract sponsors, investors and fans alike, and help ourselves be trapped in a slow-rising boom.
I have never felt so proud to be at games and tell people about them afterwards, whether they want to listen or not. There's more to us. There's something about us. I'm often startled and virtually constantly impressed at what we're trying to do. At present, Gus represents that perfectly, and i wouldn't class him as a failure, and i doubt the adult Tony Bloom would either, if we didn't make the play-offs. As long as most of us still think we're on a mission, then the monotonous groaners should be quelled and choke on their humble pies.
