I don't think Redknapp would go there in a million years. Everything to lose and nothing to gain, not the sort of thing he is looking for I suspect....

I don't think you could be more wrong, tbh.

From Redknapp's point of view, its utterly perfect. He'll get a huge salary, with the carrot of a massive bonus if they stay up. If he does it he'll claim he's performed 'a miracle'. If they go down it will all be Hughes' fault.

Has any team ever stayed up after being bottom at xmas???

West Brom in 04/05. They were bottom at Christmas and still in the relegation places on the final day. I remember as I had a tenner on them to stay up - they duly did and Palace, Southampton and Norwich(?) were relegated.

Do clubs like QPR have a vision? If they do then signing 12 players in the summer including two very expensive goalkeepers would suggest the vision is a little blurred!!!!

They should be playing both of the keepers at the same time.

Goal difference could be key.

Ashen faced Ron Knee is the only true candidate for QPR,if they axe Hughes.Which they may not.

If I'm honest, I could see Gus going there but only if 'Arry didn't fancy it.
For either of them it'd be a win-win, if they stay up then a nice reputation boost, if they go down then blame the previous regime, enjoy the summer transfer window and have a crack at the Championship next year.

Risk-free potential route to the Premiership...

If you take away the financial inducements, I don't really see QPR as being that lucrative a career move for Poyet. He knows that he is not even at mid-term in a project at Brighton and he is presently at a club with the infrastructure and stability to get to the Premier League and stay there. QPR are a car crash waiting to happen. Sure they have time to retrieve their situation this season, but they'd need another overhaul of players to achieve this with no guarantee it will work. If QPR go down, they will find it very hard to come straight back and could end up in a financial black hole. Brighton are getting the best attendances outside the Premier League and if Poyet is patient, he will be rewarded by leading Brighton out in the top flight. I think that is what will keep him at Brighton unless a really big club comes in for him, which QPR are not.

This is true but having had the worst ground in the land we are now coming across as some jumped up irritating nouveau riche neighbours who won the lottery, and moved from their nasty rented accommodation into the posh area and are now trying to lord it

My posts are always (supposed to be anyway) laced with a heavy slice of tongue-in-cheek Icy.

Everything to lose and nothing to gain, not the sort of thing he is looking for I suspect...Hughes has really f***ed the place up, with all the new faces on big money upsetting the apple cart (and that includes Zamora),it's a mess of a club and I think you either got to be mad or desperate to risk your reputation on going there atm.

I agree, they haven't got enough to stay up with ease, so he won't go

Did he? Was that the same interview when he said he was here for the long term?

Yes that's the one.He said he is here for the long term, unless he gets an offer from a club that he can't refuse. Then the chairman has a problem.Did you miss that bit?.Typical Gus interview, covered both bases in one sentence.

Just pointing out that you failed to mention that bit, making your post extremely myopic as usual.

It does not matter what bit i failed to mention. You failed to mention the point i made.It was the same interview. The point is he contradicted himself in the same sentence. So it can all be taken with a pinch of salt.If the right job came up he would be off that's a fact.It won't be QPR though.

I didn't need to make the point you mentioned as you had already mentioned it - and continue to mention it it just about every post. And he didn't contradict himself - he gave an honest answer.

What about these quotes from recent interviews? Lots of salt to be served here as well? Or is it just wishful thinking on your part that he buggers off somewhere else?

When asked why he is the 4th longest serving manager in the Championship (2nd November - pre Leeds press conference):

"I think there is 2 main reasons - the club, that is the most important one. The club are making us feel wanted in the good times and bad times. Then it is us committing and not looking for anything as soon as someone gets the sack, trying to go somewhere else and putting your name in the frame, getting your agent to call people - we are away from that because we are happy where we are. Then time will tell - I cannot predict the future, but need to be realistic as well. I would like to do something bigger here that means me staying for a long time. That depends on everybody - the players on the pitch, if we win because if we don't i think we will not stay for long (laughs) and it depends on the club going higher and better, even if it means slowly. Also the fans - if they want you, the way we play - it is a combination and if everybody is happy then we can make something big."

When asked about his 3 years and last 12 months in particular (9th November - pre Wolves press conference):

"It's been great, these last 3 years. We must be doing something right and we are not moving because I am not applying for any jobs every time there is one available (laugh). We are OK, We are happy. We keep improving. We did things in the summer which I think are key, we didn't do others that are still missing - the target man we were looking for but could not find, for a reason, as we were not just looking for anyone. So still things to improve and the better we get and the more solid we get in terms of the players we can get, the better it can be in the next few months, years or as long as it takes."

On paper QPR should not go down - they have a stronger squad than Reading, Southampton and Wigan. Any manager worth his salt would fancy themselves to keep QPR up. That said, there aren't that many proven managers kicking their heels who the chairman will feel he can rely on.

Basically, this situation is tailor-made for Harry. He'll be able to name his price and get the chairman to commit to transfer funds for the window. The chairman will probably pay because the alternative is unthinkable.

Yep, it's fair to say he does keep churning out the same old stuff. Fact is no one, and I mean no one has been in for Poyet since he has been here, well no one that is any bigger than ourselves anyway. For the record I don't think he will move on just yet, because he won't get offered the jobs he wants, until he has achived something of note with us. It's win, win all round anyway, because the only way Poyet goes anywhere, is because we are in a good position. He is not going to get the jobs he dreams of if we are treading water in the championship.
