Awesome - can’t wait to listen to this. The Ritchie Blackmore of football management - sublime talent, wilful, driven, ruthless and ambitious. Still, at times, you can forgive a genius his frailties.

Muzza’s pay - Poyet’s story has never stacked up (he blamed the club for this again in 2013 in an Argus interview).

Muzza was on £3,250 pw in League One, he sought £6,000 for the Championship, Poyet didn’t think he warranted that.

At the very same time we signed Buckley, CMS and Vicente on 5 figures a week. To benchmark, CP were already paying Ambrose and Speroni £11k a week according to their fora at the time.

Blinkered thinking by Poyet and boy it cost us.

I think a massive personality clash and a moving of the goal posts in his influence at the club is the most likely reason for Poyet’s implosion at the end of that season. Whilst seeing his faults I do have some sympathy with Gus after listening to the interview.

Poyet could possibly have been a superb coach and a nightmare to deal with from a management perspective?

He’s still upset that he’s never been asked back to the Amex. Given the magnitude of the clubs he has represented that might seem Odd, but perhaps he was being honest in that his best time in management was with the Albion?

Clearly there was a relationship breakdown and that’s a shame, his achievements shouldn’t be whitewashed, neither should his faults.

Poyet at the Albion was a bit like having an exotic foreign girlfriend. Unpredictable, crazy, amazing sex but always likely to end in tears.

Shaped the way of the club in the modern era. Sadly was a total dick in the end but of course his ego was never going to work with Barber on the scene.

Shame the club are so pathetic about it all these years later but that's how they roll.
