Awesome - can’t wait to listen to this. The Ritchie Blackmore of football management - sublime talent, wilful, driven, ruthless and ambitious. Still, at times, you can forgive a genius his frailties.

I still haven’t forgiven Blackmore for walking off stage almost before he got on it at a Rainbow gig in EC if I remember correctly. No refund either.

Maybe not the best example? :D

Josh’s pod with Robin was a great coup (not envious whatsoever!!!) and a very interesting listen.

Our latest episodes are now up including last week’s two-parter with Albion Roar stalwart Alan Wares plus this week’s two-parter comprising our big (re-) kick off conversation with some Gooner pals!

Thought I had had it bad when he only did about 60 mins at the Btn Centre. Shortest gig I've ever seen.

Muzza’s pay - Poyet’s story has never stacked up (he blamed the club for this again in 2013 in an Argus interview).

Muzza was on £3,250 pw in League One, he sought £6,000 for the Championship, Poyet didn’t think he warranted that.

At the very same time we signed Buckley, CMS and Vicente on 5 figures a week. To benchmark, CP were already paying Ambrose and Speroni £11k a week according to their fora at the time.

Blinkered thinking by Poyet and boy it cost us.

Can’t believe Poyet would give 2 monkeys if someone was over paid , that goes against all ceiling comments

Sounds like horse crap .

Don’t think those players were on 10k + a week . Widely reported we were not paying that at all

This thread turned to anti Poyet again

I think a massive personality clash and a moving of the goal posts in his influence at the club is the most likely reason for Poyet’s implosion at the end of that season. Whilst seeing his faults I do have some sympathy with Gus after listening to the interview.

Poyet could possibly have been a superb coach and a nightmare to deal with from a management perspective?

He’s still upset that he’s never been asked back to the Amex. Given the magnitude of the clubs he has represented that might seem Odd, but perhaps he was being honest in that his best time in management was with the Albion?

Clearly there was a relationship breakdown and that’s a shame, his achievements shouldn’t be whitewashed, neither should his faults.

Poyet at the Albion was a bit like having an exotic foreign girlfriend. Unpredictable, crazy, amazing sex but always likely to end in tears.

Poyet wants back into the PL.

I was away from England for too many years and when you leave the circuit, it’s a little bit more difficult to get back into the game (in England),” he said.

“There is a circle of managers rolling around that they change positions, doing well, doing not so well; it doesn’t matter.

“They are in the game, they are constantly in the running for different jobs and when you are out of it, it’s difficult to get back

“My four years at Brighton were very successful, we improved each year and started to create an identity that the club still has today.

A minor blip of identity crisis involving a fella from Finland, but we managed to get away with that ???

went on a stadium tour sometime in first couple of years at Amex and even then tour guide was alluding to Gus wants this and the club wants that - in the end no one is bigger than the club - got to be coming up to ten years soon since he left - club ain't done too bad in the meantime

Right man at the right time. Gus was a brilliant appointment after Salde, pulled this club up by its bootstraps and set us on the trajectory to where we now find ourselves.

It all ended bitterly, but as El Presidente correctly states, he was a f*cking GREAT shag at the time, and just what BHA needed.

Cheshire Cat

The most curious thing..
It wasn't just a great shag, but involved all sorts of positions, toys, appendages, and exotica that you had never dreamed could be possible.

Shaped the way of the club in the modern era. Sadly was a total dick in the end but of course his ego was never going to work with Barber on the scene.

Shame the club are so pathetic about it all these years later but that's how they roll.

Will never forget the 'we're ****ing brilliant' days.

Eees complicated. Whilst there were good and successful times the guy was a massive cock who’s ego lost us a prime Glenn Murray that ultimately got Palace promoted in Exchange for Craig MS.

Not entirely his fault - Ken Brown who was CEO at the time put in place a stupid rigid budget that prevented us seriously being able to keep Murray
