Problem is you can buy a player like CMS partly because he's just scored 27 in a season. Then he puts a blue and white shirt on and is hopeless in front of goal.

So I'm not sure buying anyone is gonna work.

Our problems are two-fold.

CMS - has to be kept in the team or our biggest player investment would devalue quickly.
Barnes - Gus feels he has to pick him for his defensive qualities.

Keeping these two as our strikers when they are so wasteful, this situation in front of goal will never improve.

So we probably have to wait until January when CMS will be off and we can play Dobbie or Hoskins. Gus has to concede that his perceived defensive advantage gained by playing Barnes is negated by him missing too many chances. Problem solved.

9 league goals already = not "hopeless in front of goal."

The call Poyet has to make is the same. Does he think Barnes and CMS are the strikers to get us promoted? Some of us after last season made the call that they were not and some of us also thought that we should not have lost Murray to a side up the road who had just come out of another administration and who were surviving on crowds of less than half of ours. Poyet gave CMS and Barnes another chance. Poyet is playing the right football and that is a breath of fresh air but he has to hold his hands up and admit he made a mistake with our strike force. They failed last season and they have failed this season. Chance after chance after chance. Dominating games week in, week out but our strikers simply don't find the net. That is the bottom line.
