So even though he got a deep cut to his knee from the challenge it was still a dive..?

That's straight out of the Jurgen Klinsmann School of Pathetic Reasoning.

He used exactly the same excuse when he was pulled up by interviewers in different magazines about different dives. I didn't think anyone would ever regurgitate that sort of argument again. Embarrassing.

Wooooow. the people phoning in are total fuckwits.

1) Comparing it to a red card challenge, in which one player does get injured, has no comparison to a handball in this scenario.
2) Ghana had the perfect chance to score. they failed. simples.
3) If Ghana's defender done that, it would have an entire different situation.

Well done Gus Poyet.

So, it's May 2011 and we're in the play-off semi final game 2. Both games have been 0-0 at 90 minutes and we're in the last minute of time added on, away at Swindon. Jon-Paul McGovern is shaping up for a free kick 25 Yards out and Peter Brezovan tells Marcos Painter and Inigo Calderon to take the posts. McGovern curls his kick over the wall into the top right hand corner. He turns to celebrate Swindon's trip to Wembley when Painter leaps high into the air and tips the ball over the crossbar a la Gordon Banks. Swindon miss the penalty they are awarded and Brighton win the penalty shoot-out. Painter misses his trip to Wembley where Brighton beat Southampton 7-1 to reach the Championship.

Question 1 - Do you really care?

Answer 1 - Probably not. Brighton play their first league game at Falmer in The Championship whilst Southampton and Swindon are left to play the small clubs like Pompey and Palace in Div 1.

Question 2 - Did Painter cheat?

Answer 2 - No, he took his 1 match ban like the man he is (this is not considered serious foul play) and, although desperately disappointed at missing the opportunity of playing at Wembley, he really didn't care that much as he hates Croydon and would rather miss Wembley than go there!

Question 3 - How many pro footballers would have done the same?

Answer 3 - All of them.

Point - Suarez did not cheat. He did what every other outfield player in the World Cup would have done to keep their country in with a chance of getting to the next round.

Gus's mistake, if any was not on going on but not seeing the massive red flag or not even knowing who he was that Nolan was hosting. The bloke is a fat , odious, Irish c*nt of the highest order and deserves a slap.

the guy saved his country, we would do the same thing, it was a great shame for Ghana but no worse than diveing for a pen or cheating a goal like u see all the time.

I haven't read the thread but I believe that pretty well 100% of professional players would have done exactly the same thing and "saved" the goal. I also reckon most England fans wouldn't lose a minute's sleep if it had been England rather than Uruguay.

Hand wringing bollocks has been spouted about what was effectively a reflex action.
