few issues with this

Say for example keeper brings a player down, gets a yellow card than makes a world class save from the penalty, does he get the plaudits and adulation of the players and fans, nope, he gets sent off.

.

He would only get sent of if it was a red card offence.

I had EXACTLY this same argument with my Brazilian flatmate (who also got really agitated) and we nearly had fisticuffs over it, apparently cheating to stop a certain goal is fine and dandy in the South American moral code :wrong: . I agree about penalty goals, then this wouldn't be a problem.

So you can honestly say if that was England and we had won in the way Uruguay did that you wouldn't be celebrating. Are you saying all handball on the line is cheating or just when it is the last minute? The fact is Ghana had a penalty which if they had scored they would go through. It is not Suarez's fault they missed it.

Also, the morons who phoned in afterwards showed their lack of knowledge of football with their comments about Poyet's managerial career. He was wanted as coach by Ramos at Real Madrid so I think he knows a bit more than them. He is also probably one of the best young managers in the game and anyone with even a bit of football knowledge outside the Premier League would know that, which obviously most of the people who rang in didn't have.

f***ing idiots. He got sent off, he'll miss the next game, Uruguay had to play with a man less, Ghana got a penalty. If someone dives and gets away with it, fair enough to bang on about it. Uruguay got punished, what is the f***ing problem? f*** me human beings are thick.

That is the correct answer.

Ghana were highly unlikely to progress past the semi final or win the final anyway.

I heard Gus on 5live and yes he was happy that his country got through and was angry that Nolan called it cheating. There is instinctive cheating and blatant cheating in other words if you go down holding your face when no one has touched you and a player gets sent off then you are blatantly cheating. I think its instinctive to save on the goal line with your hands and thats the difference. Gus was right to say that and lets be honest if any England player had done it we would all be calling him a hero if we won through to the semi final but if it happened against us we would be up in arms.At the end of the day its part of the game unfortunately and its no worse than a goalkeeper pawing the ball out the goal when its well over the line claiming it didnt cross,so to call the uruguayan a cheat is not fair and that Adrian Chiles only said it on ITV cos of the african guest......if it was Gus in the studio he would probably of said "a bit lucky there Gus,but it happens".

I feel for Ghana but at the end of the day they missed a one on one shot from 12 yards, that is a golden oppurtunity. Nothing says you can't do it, Uruguay were punished and thats the rules. People that ring in on 5live are just absolute fuckwits.

They got a penalty which they missed, they then missed 2 more penalties out of 4 in the shoot off. How were they cheated exactly ?.

not really, thats just the sorry state of football these days,if you get touched you go down! its different from being an outfield player and stopping the ball on the line with your hand to stop a clear goal-thats cheating!

So it's not like anyone's EVER tried to stop a goal with their hands before. Jeez! Never knew that.
