[Albion] Graham Potter tells Brighton fans: Stop shouting 'shoot'... it's putting off our players

This thread quite clearly shows the difference in what GP and what NSC wants Brighton to be.

GP wants Brighton to play a similar football as Manchester City, Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham. Most Northstandchatters wants Brighton to play like Newcastle, Burnley, Everton and Watford.

To be honest, it just shows that Albion fans who actually pay to watch the games (not just comment from afar) want entertainment, the occasional goal and some excitement. It doesn't matter if the move breaks down after pass 10 or pass 30 if the opposition break anyway. I actually thought we moved the ball ever so slightly quicker on Saturday which is a start.

Ok and there is nothing that indicates that getting rid of the ball as quickly as possible leads to more goals, entertainment or excitement. Dont think Norwich made a backward or sideward pass all game, if you're lucky you'll get that with your next manager.

I don’t think that GP was implying any of the things that people here are accusing him of!
Sometimes if you shoot, it’s going to be the right decision, sometimes it won’t be. That’s all he’s saying as far as I can see.

Yeah. Many have clearly not read the article or either accidentally or on purpose misinterpreted what he said as also the case with the headline clickbait writer.

Thats because Norwich were f***ing awful and our backwards, sideways game produced precisely zero more goals than them. In all seriousness, there's a happy medium here and I think judging by recent comments by Potter he accepts that. I think most of us are quite happy with us playing a passing game but surely no one can disagree that we need to move the ball quicker, get the ball in the box faster before every defender is back and yes sometimes shoot as soon as the space presents itself. Perhaps if we had Man City's squad we wouldn't have to so much.

Then all Potter has to do is recruit players of the same quality as Liverpool, Man City et al.

You see the flaw in your (and GP's) philosophy here?

Find you someone who loves you as much as Graham Potter loves attacking us Brighton fans for the shortcomings of his own team.

Well, exactly. Our very best starting XI might be able to play like Man City one game in four. But when you're down to Duffy, March and Gross.......

Typical of Swansman to pick four really shit teams as well. I'd settle for playing more like Villa, West Ham or Leicester, the teams we should be challenging if that "regular top ten" bollocks stands a chance of happening.

I am starting to think he's too sensitive to be a top half Premier League coach. Precious after booing v Leeds and now this. Heaven forbid fans having expectation that we might score the odd goal.

The club (TB) believes that the best way of going forward is to recruit players with a similar style of those in Liverpool, Man City etc. rather than the kind of players you'll find in Burnley, Norwich etc. and it has been working fantastically fine for Brighton.

Agree with all of this.

In a previous thread talking about the relative merits of Potter's passing game I said that one of the goals we scored against Liverpool is a perfect example of how good we can be. Sanchez pings the ball low and hard to Cucu, he finds Trossard and he finds the back of the next after a bit of skill.

Two passes, seven to ten touches and the ball is in the net.

Naturally its harder to score a goal like that against teams that play like Norwich do because we don't have the space. And this is where Potterball falls apart. The difficulty in unlocking those defences coupled with the strikers inability to convert the chances we do create.

Couldn't fault Trossard's application in trying to work himself into a position to get a shot off on Saturday. While all around were shouts of 'SHOOT!', the massed ranks of Norwich defenders were doing their damnedest to make sure he couldn't. How inconsiderate!
