And please could we have a slightly different version for all us girlies?
I still feel a bit daft when singing "we're the west stand Brighton boys!"
Nevertheless, I still join in and just become a token "bloke" for the duration of the song.
finding it difficult to get hold of writing paper at the moment but planning a raid on Warden Norton's office later...Moshe Gariani or should that be Andy Dufresne... how is the letter writing going?
this has not really been thrashed out... there is an understandable attachment to the "going up" words as they have been in use for a long time but I agree with you that a reversion to the original "stand or fall" would be even better...Ive looked through and couldnt see it mentioned but apologies if fixtures, I actualy perfer the "we tell them all we stand and fall for Sussex by the sea" better than the "going up we'll win.." etc, think if we pull the song off with all the lyrics at The AMEX it will sound amazing
I do feel that handing out a few hundred pieces of paper is rather futile, whereas
(1) Putting the words in the programme (Inside Back Cover?) and
(2) Having the words on the big screens
Would be SO much better (and easier)
Or... just learning the words by rote in the first place.
It should be part of every Brighton fan's DNA, for crying out loud.

Will complicate things for the lyric sheet printers but my favourite two lines in the whole song are in the original chorus..
"Oh Sussex, Sussex by the sea,
Good old Sussex by the sea,
..."
The set piece before kick off, proper music played, words on the screen version could also be accompanied by some evocative images of men from Sussex marching off to WWI interspersed with images of the Albion and of our wonderful county...
Too true! But anything at all that convinces Albion fans – old as well as new – to get past " Der, der-de derr..." can only be a good thing.I agree. BUT, without some form of education, it ain't gonna happen I'm afraid.
Quite... most 3 year olds can easily learn songs that have two verses and a chorusOr... just learning the words by rote in the first place.

I agree but for many unfortunately it isn't like that.. I took it upon myself to learn the correct lyrics a while back (a year) but before that I never knew and many don't.
Just how hard is it to do though...? How hard?
We all know it's very easy to learn the words, BUT how many of our fans have even THOUGHT about learning the words. Put the words in the programme, have them on the big screens (at least for a while) so that signing it becomes part of your pre match routine,

World war 1 soldier on big screen ....that would lead nicely into the opening of the AMEX montage at the begining of ever game which starts with the Poppy feilds
