Iraqis pray to God/Allah and they end up with a leader in Saddam Hussien. If that is how Giod repays you then they need a reality check and look what`s happening today across much of Asia, poverty,War, People randomly blowing eachother to pieces. Where`s God in all this???????????????????????? Ask yourself one serious question people. Is he really there.

Also when we have such luck as in this Earthquake when a young Child is found alive and thankfully he was, it wasn`t God that saved him he was just damn lucky a brick wall fell on top of a table he was fortunate to be under at the time. Why is it God that saved him.

Over the border in Southwick
What God wants God gets God help us all
What God wants God gets
The kid in the corner looked at the priest
And fingered his pale blue Japanese guitar
The priest said
God wants goodness
God wants light
God wants mayhem
God wants a clean fight
What God wants God gets
Don't look so surprised
It's only dogma
The alien prophet cried
The beetle and the springbok
Took the bible from its hook
The monkey in the corner
Wrote the lesson in his book
What God wants God gets God help us all
God wants peace
God wants war
God wants famine
God wants chain stories
What God wants God gets
God wants sedition
God wants sex
God wants freedom
God wants semtex
What God wants God gets
Don't look so surprised
I'm only joking
The alien comic cried
The jackass and hyena
Took the feather from its book
The monkey in the corner
Wrote the joke down his book
What God wants God gets
God wants boarders
God wants crack
God wants rainfall
God wants wetbacks
What God wants God gets
God wants voodoo
God wants shrines
God wants law
God wants organised crime
God wants crusade
God wants jihad
God wants good
God wants bad
What God wants God gets

Why don't we just let those who believe in God get on with it and those who don't leave the subject alone ? When was the last time one of our Pro God faction started up a thread declaring how great God is ?

Let me tell you, Never !

These threads are very distatseful to those who believe and they find them insulting, let's just drop the subject shall we ?

What a strange thread. The Christian position has always been that we live in an imperfect, broken world. That's the whole point - that this world and this life is not how God intended it to be.

I just love the way people who obviously have no real understanding of Christianity come on here, state something totally wrong about Christianity, and then proceed to argue against it. Bizarre and a little sad. Makes them look rather stupid, really - as stupid as building an argument on a phrase used by insurance companies.

Interesting post. Firstly your criticism of theignorance of posters should perhaps be extended to many who call themselves christians as there are a large number who don't quite follow your interpretaion of the bible.

Secondly some questions. If god is all knowing all powerful being why did his creation go so awry and why doesn't he do more about it?

How is ignorance of each others views going to help anybody? I bet the only time many NSC posters ever stop to think about God or religion is on threads like this, so surely this thread is a good thing?...

I'd disagree with your first point. I guess you might find some extremists who think just about anything, but if you check any of the mainstream churches, you will find that the fact we live in a broken world that is not the way God wanted it to be has always been the WHOLE point. Now if you base your knowledge of Christianity on what was on EastEnders or what some bloke said he heard down the pub, you might not know that, I suppose (I'm not implying this is true of you, specifically).

And, yeah, maybe a few who call themselves Christian may have some confusion over this. There are no entry exams to become a Christian and sometimes people will come to understand some aspects of belief a little more quickly or slowly than others, but no-one starts as a fully-fledged theological genius, that's for sure. We learn and we grow.

The answer to your second question is quite easy in some respects. Christians would say that God created us with free will. We can choose to be who we choose to be - we are not puppets on a string. God cannot step in and keep saving us from our mistakes and still maintain that free will. Would you want to live in a world where it was dictated what you can and cannot do? I know I wouldn't. Free will is a precious gift. It is up to us to decide what we want to do with it.

Not when some people go out of their way to cause offence no. The NSC posters who do believe in God will think abou God but why do those that don't want to think bother ?

I wouldn't mind but none of the believers start these threads do they ? Oh For the Record I'm a very relapsed catholic but I don't critiitse others for their beliefs as long as they leave me alone.

In my computer
god built this world and gave us teachings which help us deal with what happens in it. He doesn't make earthquakes or hurricanes, the planet he created does....

The trouble I have is that people with beliefs don't leave others alone.

I don't believe in god, yet for instance at school it was the law to have a collective act of (Christian) worship every day.

I think you'll find that on here they do, they only defend their beliefs on her and that's when they're attacked, On the street you're right though.

Why does everyone always assume that God stops nasty things happening?

because its part of the whole debate on does he exist or not. Its the so called "problem of evil". It proves that God does not exist:

Man asks of religion 'Why should i believe in God'. The church explains that God is perfect, all knowing, all powerfull and benevolent. If you do not do as God has told though his prophets, he will know and will smite you.

Man then points to cancer, earthquakes, wasps and many other things Not Good, and asks simply why? Shirely a good God can not allow these things; if he does then either he doesnt have the power to prevent them or isnt aware of them. If God is not omnipotent and omniscient, then why should believe in him? Might there not be another god, one who is better. Or might there be nothing at all. Either way the case for the Judo-Christian God is left in tatters (though the case for "allah" is i understand slightly more complex) and we can carry on through life without having to worry about all that nonsence.
