Is for me, buried under a pile of rubble for a couple of days unable to move would be my ultimate nightmare way to die

Maybe some of these global problems have been brought about by man f***ing up the planet?

Surely it is about time world leaders got their thumbs out of their arses and start to take these environmental issues a bit more seriously?

Well, the two biggest disasters have been caused by earthquakes, and thats got nothing to do with climate change.

How many people died of a heart attack yesterday throughout the world?
How many died of cancer?
Yes natural disasters are dreadful but we all have to die sometime.
There are no guarantees you will get your 3 score years and ten.
Death is inevitable. Is one form of death any worse than others?

A toddler's death by crushing in an earthquake is a lot worse than an old man's by a heart attack.

Cancers, heart attacks can be brought about by harmful human actions. Only Gahd can cause all those terrible earthquakes and hurricanes. Or isn't he in control of those things?

Or isn't he there?

Why do you automatically think a heart attack happens to an old man?
Richard Beckinsale was 31 when he died. My friend was 37 last year. He never had a days illness in his life before that.

My own sister only lived a few hours after her birth and my half brother died of a brain inflammation aged 21.

All death is painful for those families involved. Just because thousands die at once rather than one at a time doesn't make it any better.

God cares. He sent his son down here to die for our sins. And he's got the most beautiful beard. And he gives me gold when i'm good and tells me i'll rot in hell when i'm bad. When i'm neither, he ignores me and concentrates on other naughty children. I'm made in his image. Apart from the beard and the fact that i'm not about 5000 years old. I want to look that old. And woo women like a Guinness World Record Holder would. I'd have sex with them. They'd be fat and probably a bit cross-eyed, but still, the sex would happen. Brief, fragile and bearded. I'd go to conferences and sign autographs. Release an album. Make some serious god-money. That would get me more bitches. And so on into eternity.

I'm not saying all disasters are caused by climate change, just some. Don't you think climate change has increased the frequency and severity of hurricanes, flooding and mudslides then?

Maybe. Some scientists say it has, some say it hasn't.

I have neither the wit or wherewithall to dispute either theory convincingly.

Yup - thats about the long and short it I reckons.

Good shit happens. Bad shit happens. There's no Almighty figure in the background pulling the strings. But if there is, I hope he's like Matthew Corbett. I didn't always approve of his silent manipulation of Sweep, but his heart was in the right place, and he sure knew some moves for Sue.

I agree. I don't read anywhere that we are promised a trouble free life.

But on the flip side you could argue that due to man's greed we have a disproportionate spread of wealth and in many countries where buildings are built badly, they are more prone to earthquakes and will have far higher death tolls.

Ultimately I beleive we have messed up this earth in many ways and a lot of things happening can be partly attributed to this.

Unfortunately, earthquakes are meant to happen, they're an important part of life on this ever-changing / evolving (or whatever you want to call it) planet of ours. They've been happening for zillions of years and they will continue to happen for zillions. If you live on or near a faultline and therefore an earthquake zone, it's tough, unfortunately, harsh as that may sound.
