When are the blood snatchers next in town?

If you haven't given blood you should. There is VERY little real justification not to. I used to give blood regularly and being O neg I was in great demand but a brush with the bit C means they don't want my blood any more.

Interesting results so far:

View Poll Results: Do you donate? Voters:75. .

Yes 40 = 53.33%. Well done you lot if you all donate regular then that is approximately 160 pints of blood per annum.

No don't want to 9 = 12.00%. Your decision I suppose but one that many don't understand, approximately 36 pints per annum that could potentailly be given.

Can't 26 = 34.67%. Shame but are you sure you still can't, if 9 of you now found out you could then you could help to donate the 36 pints that the won'ts won't.

Going to sign up now. 0 = 0%. There must be some one out there.

Me personally, I could have donated 100 pts of blood over the years that I didn't, through a can't be arsed attitude. How bad is that.

Well they are wrong. The age limit for donation is 65, not 60 - go and look at the NHS Blood Donation website - it is completely clear from the FAQs part of the site that this is the case as long as you are in good health.

Good on your Dad by the way, I have 14 years to go but due to the nature of my job can only donate once or twice a year so doubt I will catch him....

Thanks. I'll find out if there was another reason rather than just age then. I just know he's really disappointed he was told he can't do it anymore.

He got a nice lunch at the Grand Hotel I think for getting to 75 donations.

The age limit for those who have never given before is 65, however if you are established you can carry on until ill health prevents. I checked this last week at Peacehaven as I'm in excess of 65 myself & was pleased [now they've sorted my new details] to be told I can carry on.

:bounce:

Off to give blood this evening.

Got a leaflet with my appointment letter saying men can now give 4 times a year instead of 3. Still only 3 times for the ladies though.

For two very permanent reasons, I'm out.
