Easy to do and these days you can book an appointment on-line to save time.

When I first gave blood it was something promoted by my then employer - it would be good to see more companies/organisations joining in.

I'm planning to go tomorrow evening for another donation now that they can take 4 times a year from me.

If you are able to, then there should be no excuse. It is so easy and makes such a massive difference with saving someones life. Why would you not want to do it??

I gave blood on numerous occasions and there is no problem whatsoever for anyone who may wish to contemplate it and, of course, there is the tea and biscuits thereafter.

Sadly, they will also not accept blood from anyone over 60 ( me ) although that may have changed.

I've given blood three times for various tests and fainted twice - granted, I was ill the first time and viciously hungover the second time.

I'm going to bite the bullet and get back on the horse, if they'll have me.

My Dad has been told he can't give blood again and he's 59. Has donated over 75 times and he's pretty gutted they have stopped him going again.

Yes.

There's a world of difference between trying to donate and it not working, and flatly refusing.

Well they are wrong. The age limit for donation is 65, not 60 - go and look at the NHS Blood Donation website - it is completely clear from the FAQs part of the site that this is the case as long as you are in good health.

Good on your Dad by the way, I have 14 years to go but due to the nature of my job can only donate once or twice a year so doubt I will catch him....

Thanks for that, at the time is was donating, I'm sure it was 60 so it has indeed probably changed.

they wont let me at the mo...due to meds. hoping i can give again towards end of year! i was becoming super speedy....at drinking the pre sesh pint of water and the dash to the loo afterwards...
