Good post.

I've never liked that the term is thrown at anyone successful, who reveals any left leaning stance, or any socialist principles. That is a nonsense.

I think the term has a place, where seeking to highlight hypocrisy. But being successful, and having (and sharing) a social conscience are far from mutually exclusive.

This is a good post too, because there's nuance here, which doesn't often rear its head on NSC's politics threads (including from me). Anyway, back to Mortimer, my memory seems to indicate that he actually had a glass of champagne at breakfast on a daily basis (I suspect this wasn't his only one of many days).

Well, hats off and fair play to all you Noble Order of Brave Stayers that are doing all-nighters.

For me, it's comparable to Christmas for the under 5's - an air of excitement tinged with an air of expectation and predictability - no point trying to stay awake to see Santa struggle with his big sack of gifts for you - just get to sleep and hope you wake up in the morning surprised .... and you got what you asked for!

That's what all politicians do in all interviews. When Labour are asked how they're going to finance their plans, they don't have an answer (other than 'we're going to tax the rich', which isn't exactly the precise detail we need).

All politicians do it but Theresa May has taken it to another level. It's been widely viewed as one of the main reasons her campaign has been as bad as it has, and also viewed​ as the reason why she has been avoiding interviews outside of stage-managed and pre selected questions. It's been a big talking point so I'm surprised you need me to point you in the direction of people who have commented on it, but here's a good summary article.

There's been a big swing away from the Tories on Betfair this morning in the 'Most seats', 'Next Government' and 'Overall Majority' markets.

Still heavily odds on at 1/10, 1/4 and 1/4 respectively, but quite a shift from where things were yesterday evening.

Don't know if it happens these days but in the seventies the Dome was a great night on election night.

I can recall a few occasions when I'd had a night out in town and spent the rest of the night hearing the results coming in then walking home in the early hours to west Hove.

Hove does seem busy. Looks like a seat that could go either way. Fairly close on betfair exchange with Kyle still slight favourite. Looks like there will be a small majority one way or the other. Having spoken to a few people I know that was I'm going to go a slight Tory majority

38 Degrees is a British not-for-profit political-activism organisation. It describes itself as "progressive" and claims to "campaign for fairness, defend rights, promote peace, preserve the planet and deepen democracy in the UK.

It is a biased website.

It doesn't matter who sent it to you.

My point was that the "quiz" was giving accurate results and therefore didn't appear biased
