Interesting that the YouGov exit poll puts the result as Tories 284, Labour 263 which seems more believable
Indeed... although IPSOS Mori polled 22000+ people across the country at polling stations today... and are standing by their figures.

the YouGov seems more consistant with what we've been given over the past few weeks. i understand this is a telephone poll, as many have been. the IPSOS is a different creature, with people at polling stations interviewed. so any bias in a telephone polling is removed and you have a much cleaner cross section of the voters. and no undecided throwing it off balance either.

In fairness, how can two exit polls be so far apart?

They are based, to a certain extent on previous voting behaviour, and this election hasn't been similar to past elections, therefore it is more likely to have some variation.

I think the SNP numbers on the exit poll will be fairly accurate.

That is a far bigger story than Tory vs Labour. The third largest party in the UK will be Scottish.

Mainstream parties won't get back in north of the border. Ever.

Ladbrokes had 53 SNP favourites today, so rings true

Seems strange with every poll not just YouGov saying the same thing for the last 6 weeks and suddenly the BBC exit poll is all over the place

Yes very strange seeing as they have been very left wing bias throughout the campaign ... must be rubbing against the grain for them to publish that !!

If it is true it is prob because that there were 100 new Tories voted in at the last election for the first time since 97 & once in place they have done a good job and together with the 1st time incumbency effect has kicked in big time

Sad times if the exit polls are true - although hopefully because of the nature of this election they won't be. Say good bye to the NHS.
