only, this isnt actually true. just a misguided concept of tax distribution based on political preference. the numbers dont support the assertion.
whats interesting about this policy is that Labour are willing to openly create a division between the youth and the pensioners. i think some of the removal of the reliefs proposed are pretty resonable, no one is going to be hard up as a consequence, and it wont affect the vast majority of the population. but its a bold move because the perception is that it will harm all pensioners. another interesting point is why its even necessary, because contrary to another misguided perception, full time student numbers havent fallen since the fees went upto £9K, they have increased. so this policy addresses a problem that probably doesnt really exist (people discouraged from Uni soley due to cost of fees).
