Can we keep this thread free of partisan propaganda, please?

Discuss what you're eating, drinking, how crazy Peter Snow is getting and the results as they come in and what it might mean for the overall result, but can we please keep this thread clear of the bollocks that has clogged up every other election-related thread over the past few months.

Channel 4's alternative election coverage is always worth dipping into.

They have a Gogglebox election special this year (didn't that Brighton family get binned off for the current series after the father announced he was going to stand as a UKIP candidate somewhere- Hastings possibly?)

Fascinating? Ha think you need to get a life!

It is though. 99% of the time, politics bores the arse off most people. This is the only time you actually get to see anything remotely interesting. The sight of some smug faced, over-confident incumbent MP who's held a seat for decades realising he's just been turfed out in favour of a bright young upstart is always a joy, no matter who you vote for. Or one of the big names failing. There's a decent chance- so I read, I'm by no means an expert- that Nigel Farage won't win the South Thanet seat he's targeting (I must say, I'd assumed he'd be a dead cert to win). Given the huge publicity he's enjoyed throughout this campaign, and the fact that he's his party leader, the outcome of that particular vote will be fascinating. IMHO, like.

Thinking of a drinking game.

Single malt for mention of the SNP, organic cider for the Greens, an old Chablis for the Tories, John Smiths mixed with Aussie Shiraz for Labour, something unreliable in a nicely branded bottle for the Lib Dems and looney juice for UKIP.

By the end I'll be in a similar mess to the country.

Should probably drink Um Bongo for UKIP.

(Do they still make Um Bongo??)

Only in The Congo

Would that be the Republic of, or the Democratic Republic of? I do wish these drinks manufacturers would be more specific.

The Daily Telegraph is running scared , talking about Miliband planning to walk into number 10 on Friday. They see it as a coup even if Labour end up with more seats than the Tories :lolol:

I predict every wally will rant on how we should have a PR system, forgetting that when we had a chance to vote for one a few years ago, only me and a woman who walked in the hall by mistake actually bothered to vote.

It was not PR though. It was some weird watered-down AV thing which few people actually fully understood.

The reason why there was such a low turnout was because people saw it as a life support machine for the LibDems , forever a partner in a coalition government.

Every election I wait for the exit polls then go to bed. Until then I like to channel hop looking for some pundits, commentators and party faithful kicking off in a jovial but barbed manner.

However I will be up around 6am to see how it has panned out overnight. It's usually pretty entertaining by then as most of the politicians are absolutely shattered and are easy prey for a presenter/interviewer to tear apart. Especially as they'll all be trying to spin the result their way.

I think the really interesting stuff will start around midday.
