Voting against this bill is a homophobic act, OF COURSE IT IS. What other possible reason is there for thinking that human rights are dependent on sexuality?

Would have been hypocritical in the extreme to have voted 'aye' on an actual referendum here in November, and 'nay' on a forum poll, now wouldn't it?

As a Christian i vote no not because i dislike homosexuals or Lesbians they are still Gods children and he loves them very much even though he would not approve of what they are doing but because the Father who created this earth did not create it for same sex marriages but for man and women so they could re produce and glorify his work and plan and have a perfect world with no sin , this is made very clear in the Bible , obviously if you dont believe there is a God then you wont believe what the bible says is the truth either thats understandable , imagine you wrote a life long book and you have planned how it will finish only for someone or something to come in and tear out your ending and replace it with how they want it to be and leave you out of the ending totally ! it doesnt surprise me at all that it has come to this because our world is leaving God out more and more and as we go on and in time there will be even more state powers voting on other un Godly decisions that will effect us , dont be surprised if a vote for Sharia law is on the agenda in the not to distant future .

What god is that? Jupiter didn't mind who he shagged, men or women...in fact he was particularly adept at coming to earth as a very attractive white bull and for some reason Europa took one look and thought " I am having some of that" ....

Is your god the one that sent his son to one small blue green planet out of 8 planets encircling a sun, which is one of trillions of suns in the universe! Bit arrogant to assume this isn't it?

I'm a little tired so excuse me if I've misinterpreted what you've said but am I to understand that you believe homosexuality is a mental illness?

Not quite but nearly. I am saying that the majority of those claiming such status are not actually gay. It does not help them to stablise their life when society offers the easy gay alternative. It becomes the safety net. They need help. Those who are actually gay from birth are few in number. Yes they do exist and have no choice and should be free to be as they are, just as someone who is born blind or deaf etc

So the majority of gay people aren't gay and have mental issues ?

If someone chooses to be gay then it should be accepted regardless.

So your objection to gay marriage is because you don't like to see blokes kissing. There's plenty of things I wouldn't like to see a man and a woman doing but I don't immediately think that straight marriage should be banned.
Great stuff, I'm glad everyone isn't like me. I thought I was a fairly easy going sort of fella, but some of my thoughts and views clearly belong in the stone age.

Again apologies if any of my opinions have upset anyone, perhaps it would have been better to have kept them to myself.

Its been an education.

I think you have put your views across well, even if I don't share them.

So its 2/10 people that for whatever reason think it shouldnt be allowed with about 7/10 people in favour of it, so NSC is showing then general consensus of the country.

If the Tories vote against it, then they know they will be almost certain to be out at the next election, not to mention it shows they are incredibly out of touch with the rest of the country, being stuck in the past.

And as for gay couples adopting, as long as they are in a safe, protected, loving and caring home with 2 parents, whatever their sex and sexuality - why should people be against it ? You cant just say "Its not right" and that "Its against nature". They would be brought up the same as any other kid these days and it will be more acceptable to be gay when the kids are adults, saying it isnt allowed is hardly setting a good example for them.

For those who have voted no for religious reasons - fair enough, you believe what you want to believe and if something goes against that, then you have to say no. But those who are just voting no "because its wrong" - let everyone know when your ready to step out of the 1950's and into 2013.

I disagree, it's not alright on religious grounds. Homophobia is wrong, why does the reason that you are a homophobe matter?
