Seriously? He had no close season to speak of, he's had his hands tied by injuries and purse strings and we've still been sniffing around the playoffs. Presumably any new manager will be given a magical pot of gold to blow on strikers?

How many managers that built lasting success did so immediately? I'm not saying that he will do but I am happy to give him longer to work with Tony et al.

I agree with the poster who said the transfer window has cost us. When we went on that decent run in November and December, two of our best players were Barnes and Conway. Neither are now at the club and both were allowed to go to Championship rivals. Instead we have used short term loans as botch jobs and surprise, surprise it's cost us. There is still no sign of Hoskins or Mackail-Smith who should have reappeared by now.

Although Stephens looks a decent player, he's not a game changer like a decent striker would be, so I can't help thinking the Barnes money should have gone on a comparable striker. None of the players who joined in January and February have had any impact at all.

I don't know if it's Oscar or David Burke but our recruitment and transfer policy since Christmas has been very poor.

Conway was here on loan and Cardiff decided to sell him to Blackburn on deadline day and to be fair he never made an impression for two thirds of his loan spell.

Hold your nerve, I'm also not happy with this inability to score either. Its gonna be a white knuckle ride from here, Middlesbrough has become a must win game. As for defending Garcia, he does set the team, the game plan and the substitutions all of which have questions to be asked, but he does not miss the shots or let the goals in.

This for tonight's performance. Should have been a couple ahead, then a bad defensive error, hardly the managers fault. If you look at Sheffield Wednesday's:lolol: recent home form they have been putting a fair few goals past the opposition.
A striker like Ings, McCormack or the like would have seen us coasting in quite a few games.
Best defence, crap in front of goal.

Season is over. Has been for a while given our inability to score. Forget the table. Just playing out games now. It's realistically about Oscar having a proper prep and go at the Championship next season.

There's always the World Cup meanwhile....ow and Man U - the gift that keeps giving!

We create more chances than the opposition in virtually every game, so although it may not be thrilling end to end stuff it's hardly negative.

I disagree were might have more possession than the opposition , we very rarely create clear cut chances on sat their keeper mad one decent save . Its been like this all season

In, obviously. This poll starts at the very far reaches of stupidity and then drives on a little further.

He had a bigger budget this season so how can his hands be tied by purse strings ?

It will be interesting to see who he buys/sells in the summer. Next season it will be his own squad, with a proper pre season, hopefully with a few less injuries and a new training ground.
I am gutted we lost but there are still 10 games left, almost a quarter of the season.
Onwards and upwards.....i hope.

well thats speculative
And always will be all the time we have a one tracked minded manager who will insist on playing a top class striker in a lone role that he is painfully not suited to.

If out of all that I put, if that is the only point you can pick me up on, dare I say it deep down overall you agree with me (more speculation), but as usual you just cannot face up to the fact that something about Brighton might be negative.

Do we actually have a scouting network as there doesn't seem much evidence of one judging by who we have signed. If there is they need replacing.

This is why threads like this are so unfair. Oscar has played with players picked for him. I don't see anyone asking for Burkes head after this seasons performance in the transfer market.

Both of whom are receiving at least £8M in parachute payments THIS season from the Premier League's "Closed Shop" fund, this is about the same as our total match-day ticket income last season (av gate 26,237).
Having posted a £14M+ operating loss last season, that the Chairman has funded, it may well be that the Board has decided that some or all of the fees from the Bridcutt, Barnes etc transfers are going to reduce this. Who knows but the Chairman's stated objective is that the club should be self-financing at the Amex based on a 5 year plan?

That's one of my main problems with him.

No matter who he changes, the players we can afford, ARE NOT GOOD ENOUGH to play his system. It doesn't work.

Ulloa, Buckley, Lingard, Lua Lua, Lita, Barnes (cough), March, I'll add Hoskins and CMS, as I think if they were fit all season it would have made no difference and they will not fit into his style either.

That is a strong box of attacking options. No amount of wheeling and dealing is going to improve that line up much for any championship side. We need a manager who can use those players to their strengths. Oscar IMO is not that manager.

And you ignore the rest of the post, and fail to see that there could be anything possibly wrong with a Brighton manager as you ALWAYS do!
