Our season started so well last year, we have to ask what happened to the squad that's caused this drop in performance? We've lost Bridcutt, Barnes and El-Abd, and haven't brought in enough in the way of strikers to score goals. We can push forward really well, but lack the finishing touch. Meanwhile at the other end, our defence seems to be all over the place when the opposition breaks, even if we've dominated them throughout the game.

If there's one thing you can't criticise, it's the defence, which is still the meanest in the league.

I don't think Tony Bloom is pondering the question, and why should he?

Can't be arsed to read the thread but anyone who wants to sack a manager who has a style that creates loads of chances and restricts the opposition to very few needs their heads looking at. Blame the players not the manager, I am sure Garcia will sign the players who can play the game his way and release those who don't. I expect that's why so many players have not been offered new contracts. Massive clear out at seasons end IMO.

but then you would think those same players would be playing for a new contract or don't they care
and I agree with your statement about the clear out in the Summer..........it might be very hard to keep up with the goings on then

He has had horrific lucky with injuries, never had a fully fit squad, key players injured in Crofts, Bridcutt, CMS, Buckley etc. losing our best mid in Bridcutt and not really being replaced. Losing Conway and being replaced with that joke Obika.
So to be fair relevant mitigating factors.
However
He sets the team up and I've been saying it since Christmas, we don't have the personnel to play 4-3-3 yet he CONTINUES to play this formation when it totally stifles any creativity we have.
He also seems reactive with subs rather than proactive.

I'm totally on the fence.

This summer is going to be massive for us. I know one thing if the board don't believe in Garcia then he needs to go NOW, we can't go into another close season changing the manager.

I expect us to be a totally different proposition next season with players who can play the Garcia way and I expect the midfield to contribute far more as an offensive package next season.

Have to confess that I have given up on this season now.

I agree with you - we created loads of chances on Saturday as well - but don't give up on the season; we never win at Hillsborough; we lost our main goals threat; however, we're still within 3 points of 6th and have a game in hand over everyone.

the way the manager changes that is by shipping out the bad players and buying better ones, and its hard to buy players when money isnt being given to the manager.

basically, its all Barber's fault.

BARBER OUT.

So many points open to question here:
1) Garcia is not the manager he's the head coach.
2) Shipping players in/out is not the only way to remedy our lack of incisiveness in front of goal.
3) Paul Barber is not responsible for "giving out" money at BHA, unbudgeted income/expenditure shortfall comes from elsewhere and the source is in the public domain.
4) You may like to correct your penultimate paragraph, if you have the balls.

FFS this is a transitional season. Oscar has to be judged when the players who are not good enough are shown the door and replaced.

True, very true. I just tend to assume that if we outplay another team, any goals we concede are automatically the fault of the defenders.

Ballcocks! We're 3 points off of 6th with a game in hand, and have 8 out of 9 very winnable games to play - why on earth would we give up on the season now?!

Sometimes in life you need to take stock and realise when you're flogging a dead horse - So far this season we have failed to have any real impact on the top 6. So why do people think it will suddenly change in the last 9 games of the season? Let it go and move on in this case to next season and do a lot of the leg work now.

Don't get this transitional season basically writing the season off from the start I'm sorry but at the moment oscar is getting his tactics wrong and we have been found out and have no plan b just like we didn't with Gus

I don't trust the guy who picks the players for Oscar to choose from. He has found one quality signing this season in Ward, the rest have been a waste of wages.

Do we actually have a scouting network as there doesn't seem much evidence of one judging by who we have signed. If there is they need replacing.

All the time Oscar sets the side up so negatively then the same results will happen no matter what new signings we get

We create more chances than the opposition in virtually every game, so although it may not be thrilling end to end stuff it's hardly negative.

Again, that's all cliche.

We have more money than last season, but don't let facts get in the way.

We have Ulloa, one of the most sort after strikers outside the premiership.

We have Lingard, one of the most promising young players from the premiership.

They would make a lethal partnership. That will never happen as Oscar plays with one striker, even though that striker (ulloa) is painfully not suited to that role.

IMO we have a better squad that Burnley. That's all I can say.
