The Ironic thing about these protesters is that the majority are middle class twats protesting against a system that has made mummy and daddy rich.

Yeah, great. You go and put out the fires then, whilst being pelted with bricks and bottles. My Watch is on stand-by to go into east London on Wednesday and my girlfriend who is 4 months pregnant with our first baby is worried sick.
:lolol: You've got more chance of being suffocated by their smelly unwashed armpits

Nothing wrong with it kicking off every now and again, it'd happened for centuries and we shouldn't really worry about it to be honest.

Even the landed gentry had a bit of a go in Trafalger Square a few years ago, show it shouldn't really matter what class you are.

( Well from what I observed they were drinking in the pubs around Westminister, whilst the hired hands were dealing with the rozzers in the lower field...)

But if anyone lays a finger on a fireman, well yes - they deserve a f***ing good slapping.

I just think riots are counter productive. I know its not as exciting but putting your ideas to joe public at grass roots level is more productive.

They probably are in your line of politics, but I disagree over things like the above.

Not that I agree with them per say. I went along to observe when it all kicked off in Trafalger Square and Parliament square a few ago and the middle class crusty factor was off the scale.

But I honestly think that people being a naughty in protest at the way the banks have operated over the last few years will go down badly with the majority of the population.

To me the whole thing is just plane daft. Why cause a riot when you know that the old bill will be out in force. There are lots of other ways that you can get your message across.

You're right, and I do that all the time as part of my job! Funny people here saying that protest is counterproductive - if we hadn't got off our arses and up to Archer's house at Mellor, Focus stores and on the pitch at the Goldstone (to name 3 of the more 'direct actions') we wouldn't have an Albion to have an NSC about! Direct action most certainly does work.

As for trhe communism bit: life expectancy in Russia has reduced by 20 years on average since 1989. Don't take my word: check it out.

That's not quite true and it's not quite the full picture either, is it?

It's 59 for men and about 73 for women. The women's age is comparable with most of Eastern Europe and not too far off Western standards. All the experts acknowledge that the shocking decline in male life expectancy is largely due to alcoholism. Don't believe me? How about 2 fairly neutral reports:

In Slyozi, nobody is in any doubt as to why the men have disappeared. The problem is alcoholism - a ubiquitous rural phenomenon. Other social factors have certainly contributed: bad health care, smoking, unemployment, and the lingering health problems of many Russian pensioners who battled the Germans. But ultimately the men of Slyozi drank themselves to death
http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2008/feb/11/russia

Alcoholism and poor diet, coupled with diseases like tuberculosis and a crisis in health care, have all meant more and more Russian men dying younger. Average life expectancy for a Russian man is now just 59 years.

...and it's pointless looking at statistics in isolation. Better to compare life expectancies for fully developed mature "capitalist" countries against their counterparts and to compare Russia against other ex-Soviet bloc countries. All bar the Ukraine come out SIGNIFICANTLY higher than Russia and Western nations had the highest life expectancy.

You see how much clearer your thinking is when you have not been out the night before drinking and taking drugs.

Capitalism the only way? tell that to the poorer nations in the world that have been exploited. Communism, capitalism two sides of a very nasty coin

The poorer nations being exploited? Do you realise what would happen to the third world is Western multinationals ceased investing in poor countries? Millions of people would be f***ed and would fall below the poverty line. Why do you think the Chinese have decreased poverty by about 70% since the 1980's.

I said riots were counter productive not protests. I am in favour of direct action and to me thats what the protest against Archer were. If our protests had been violent do you think the Albion would exist today?

Do you really think the soviet regime was wonderfull? Have you watched the life under communism series on BBC 2. Its strange how you can relate to it. Labours Britain isn't far off it

Bollocks.

The decline in life expectancy in Russia is directly linked to the fact that people were looked after in workplace clinics. Their factories have been closed and livelihoods destroyed since the turncoat traitor Yeltsin and his oligarchs raped the Soviet economy: millions are in despair, and as I am sure you are aware the only way Yeltsin could stop the communists getting back into power with - mass popular support - in the 90s was by attacking the Duma (parliament) with tanks, killing over 150 deputies. I spent a long time in the GDR before the wall came down and the baleful effect of privatisation is well to the fore there as well.

:lolol::lolol::lolol:

You almost make mutlinationals sound like charities. Well at least we get cheap clothes and food and are safe in the knowledge that they are very happy being exploited

I predict some major civil unrest.
I'm in Essex, but we're on stand-by to come in and assist our London colleagues, should the need arise.

So if you are going, please don't brick / bottle / stone the firefighters. Cos we're just doing our jobs. Ta.

Just the firefighters???

(God bless capitalism for next week's overtime, by the way )

Ok, and the rozzers too. But to be fair, you get all the decent gear, like shin guards, stab vests, a big fooking stick.

Well I don't get any shin guards...though I confess I've got something a bit more tasty than a big fooking stick these days ;o)

Paperwork would be a nightmare if I ever had to use it though...
