Come on BYF if you work at a resort you KNOW that f***ing long delays are all part of Summer flights. It happens EVERY year ...alot

Just because I work in resort and see it all close hand doesnt make it right, does it?

But this situation is a joke and as far as im concerened the lame excuse is not acceptable!

!

No but it ain't worth getting het up about because it's going to happen all season. I guess it just won't matter so much if it's not you or your parents caught up in it.

Think of the poor buggers who didn't bother to check the incoming flights and have turned up at a UK airport and have to wait 7 hours for the flight to arrive

Hate to be logical here - but is it just me who calls the airline or checks on the internet before I leave home to check its on time? 7 more hours laying the sun would have been rather a bonus!!

A summer charter flight???? There is NO WAY that I would just go to the airport on the scheduled arrival time. I would have thought that pretty well everybody checks the incoming flight arrival time and that the flight has departed before setting off to the airport?

7 more hours in the sun at resort is not an option as you have to check in on time regardless I think? Small airports with not many facilities are the pits though if you have a long delay.

selfish bastard company too - refusing to ignore safety procedures and take off without one of the crew.

Safety procedures on planes strike me as some of the strangest things that I ever have to listen to. For instance, If the plane lands on water, I won't need to know where my life jacket is. The plane will probably be in about 8 different pieces and so will I. Likewise, Why on earth do I need to wear a seat belt? Does this really help me in the event of a crash? Lastly, what safety procedures are we breaking by having one less cabin crew? Does it really matter if we have 3 rather than 4?

The arrival in from manchester was 15 minutes early and on arrival to the airport all was ok...and it was due to depart on time APPARENTLY!

They checked in and then it was decided very late on that this trolly dolly wasnt going to fly....so ringing up and checking would have made no difference at all,due to the fact it was decided late on that he/she couldnt return...

I'm only about 20 minutes from the airport and would pop up there and have a beer with me dad...but they cant let them free from air-side

Working in safety it must be to do with passenger/crew ratio

I bet by law they are only allowed to be allocated x amount of passengers...imagine....I cant cope up here guys theres one more tray of muck to carry to take to a passenger...we need emergency cover guys!

Fair dues - I must admit my flights are long haul to Sydney mostly! Not flown any small charters...

Not sure it can realy make a difference. If a BA plane ends up in Portugal, or an Emirates plane in Sydney, and a member of staff is sick, do they have spares about the place? All ready to go at a moments notice?

Im not 100% sure if they have told passengers the truth and theres no chance im phoning my dad to tell him the real reason just in-case the airline have given them a pack of lies....But If i was sat in the departure lounge for 7 hours looking at my plane sat there and because of one staff member not being there....I would not be happy at all...

bottom line is sometimes shit happens . Theyre not going to call off a whole plane as 1 x cabin crew is not well, maybe there were already a couple off or something. They must have to have a minimum number of staff per x passengers for passengers/staffs own safety, if they havent got enough crew then they cant fly, end of

Of course they shpuld have spare staff waiting for an emergency, the same applies for buses, trains etc but basically not having back up staff on stand by, is one of the easiest ways to save cash. This is poor services GB remember.

I'd say its a rareity that a loaded 747 to Sydney at minimum £700 a ticket is going to be grounded due to one staff memebr - BA especially have floating crew members for exactly that purpose....

We loved it in Maderia, it felt a little like home, as it seemed we were the youngest people on the Island.
Our flight home was like a red cross airlift, where all the old codgers had tumbled down a labarda(sp) or 2.

It does have the worlds greatest garlic bread, &, wifey enjoyed cheese and banana with everything.
