Has anyone ever had experiences with Emirates? are they any good? they are the cheapest worldwide airline I can find so I am assuming that I can't expect much, ie, decent legroom, decent entertainment, decent food etc

Yup, went with Emirates last time to Oz and going with them next time in January. Food is excellent and the backoftheseat entertainment something else. I tried to listen to every no. 1 hit between 1957 to the current day but ran out of time. Extra legroom, but you wouldn;t want to be TOO much of a lardass as the seat are noticeably NARROW. Still, seems to me the optimum way to fly to Oz, three seven hour hops from Gatwick to Dubai to Singapore to Brisbane, with only two hours in Dubai and Singapore to stretch yer legs. Stopovers available. Obviously.
