Real Madrid aren't top technically, Barcelona are. In Spain it goes to the head to head record before goal difference, Barcelona won 1-0 in the first El Classico so therefore, are technically top. (2 games need to have been played for it to come into play but TECHNICALLY Barca are top)

The bit in brackets is a bit contradictory, no? If two games need to have been played for it to come into effect (a technical matter) then Barca aren't technically top, are they?

You're talking trousers Wizard. Real Madrid ARE top of the league on goal difference because they've not played Barcelona twice yet. When they have played twice, the team with the better head to head will be top as is the rule in Spain. But for today, for right now, Barcelona are 2nd in the table behind Real Madrid on goal difference. Fact.
