hardly the same , at least Ben White had played first team football , just not for Albion , Balogun has not and so far his highest level is PL2 from what I have read so slightly different situation

Arsenal taking the urine ...... £15 mil for a 19y/o yet to play a first team game

Isn't the price tag an indication that they don't really want to sell him, but if offered a high enough fee then they will sell? Which is fine.

I'd compare it to living in a house worth £300k but you aren't actually looking to sell and move. How much above the market value would an offer be to make you sell? Obviously if someone offers you £1m you'll bite their hand off and move. But if someone offers £310k you would almost certainly say no, as £10k isn't worth the hassle and cost of moving when you didn't want to.

However

He is out of contract at the end of the season and can sign a pre contract in Jan if he wants.

That’s why £15m for someone with no PL football is a bit high.

You would think it would be based on a fee of less than 10m with a sell on and performance related increases in that situation

Apparently we were turned down for £3m, £6 with a sell on (to get him) seems more realistic.

If Balogun wants the move to us or Sheff United (where his pathway to first team will be less congested) only needs him/agent to say he wont be signing a new contract (like Lamptey).

They will then flog him this window for sure imho, no chance theyll leave it to Jan for him to sign a pre contract and have money settled by tribunal.

ofc if he still hopes for Arsenal future (and what young player wouldnt), he may well re sign if given assurances.

I believe he has already told them that, although I could be wrong.

I’m sure he will be on the move soon, but I doubt it will be for anywhere near £15m

If he has? thats positive and gives us a chance, possibly the 15 million is just a ridiculous opening gambit. Sure Arse would love a bidding war

this will be a #HoldTheNerve transfer, for once window closes, next time it opens he moves on pre contract. They will take whatever they can before it closes, if what you say is true

They’ve got 4 centre forwards on their books.

We’ve got 5 but one is injured for the foreseeable future and another 2 are on loan.

meant where either us or Sheff utd had less quality in front of him than Arse....either of us would be quicker to first team potentially than where he is now

how has a kid with barely any senior appearances ended up on 40k? No wonder Arsenal's kids often never make up to anything, they probably think they've got it made earning 2 million a year as a teenager

David Bentley is a great example of what you are referring too.

Yes, he could have been the next David Beckham if he’d had the same work ethic, passion and application as the former England captain, he had the talent.

Better a Beckham than a Bentley.

Crazy, isn't it?

Tony Bloom is very wise not trying to compete with the wages of the superclubs - we'll never have their income.

We should be grateful that young stars come to Albion to learn and play with the promise of mega-dosh sometime in the future - and never begrudge the club for cashing in, or players for moving on.

(But don't go, Tariq!!)
