What? Would you swap our squad for Leeds’?
Or you’d be happy if we spent £30mill on some 29 year old average Spanish Carlos Kickabout like they have?
I wouldn’t!!!

Plus we’ve added Veltman and Lallana as well as White all for under a mill. Far better business this window than Leeds and there’s still a month til the window closes!

Bit harsh on the Spanish striker. No I would not swap Leeds squad for ours. We are talking about strikers.

I thought I’d pop onto this thread to see how the Folarin Balogun rumour is progressing. It seems to actually be another Leeds thread. Jesus effing Christ. Maybe it’s time for a Leeds sub-forum.

You are not comparing like for like.
We have a bottom half Premier League squad, Leeds have a Championship squad, with the added loss of their best defender. Their established striker is second rate, a PL failure, they have to replace him to have any chance of staying up.
They hope they have done this by signing the Spaniard, who, guess what, failed in the PL before. If he gets injured, they have Bamford, and just about no one else. In a perfect world, they need another 2 strikers better than Bamford. We are more of a comparison with Palace, Burnley, and West Ham. Our business, so far is superior to all 3 clubs , and hopefully will still be better by the end of the window. It is inconceivable that we are not busting a gut to get in the elusive striker, or even 2 , and a LWB, and maybe even a surprise or 2.
I do think the summer transfer window is too long, nothing much ever happens until the last week, unless you have mega money to throw at it, or are very astute. Patience should be our watchword.

So you’d swap Maupay for him then?

Or, as we’re talking strikers as you say, Bamford maybe??

Definitely NOT Bamford. Spanish guy; who knows? I will tell you after this season.

Oh God you are so annoying.

Going with the HWT solution on this one.

I find you very annoying, but at least I didn’t start calling someone I don’t know obnoxious

Not wanting to fan the flames but it would be slightly arrogant of us (Leeds-like, even) to assume Rodrigo, current Spain number 9 and regular scorer for one of the better La Liga teams, isn't at least a little better than Maupay.

You’ll tell me after the season??! So why you bring it up now???

Whoever we buy will be a risk. May I venture to suggest that we actually attempted to sign a higher risk player who opted instead for Benfica. IIRC Leeds new striker was described as a panic buy, which is clearly nonsense. I am not gonna be foolish enough to slag him or praise him before he even has kicked a ball for Leeds.

Which is kind of my point, but I feel like I am in a minority of one, maybe two!?

Steady. 1.5 maybe.
I think it's easy to go 'Watkins won't be up to it', 'Wilson is injury prone', 'Rodrigo is a panic buy' etc.
Some transfers don't pay off, some do- we're hardly any better than anyone else at that.
BUT, we need to take a risk on SOMEONE, and it does feel like we're running out of options slightly!

EDIT: and Wolves just spent £35 million on an 18 year old. That's the kind of thing we have to compete with, sadly.

You do seem to have completely ventured off on a tangent - this whole discussion started because you criticised the club for not publicly confirming what strikers they are after which caused some of us to question you.

I believe many of us can see that potentially leeds have a great asset there. It doesn't alter the fact that we can't increase the likelihood of success in our club's search for a striker by fretting and worrying. There is a looooooong time till the window shuts. Hold the nerve.

Rodrigo could be anything but they needed an upgrade on Bamford and they got one. We are unable or unwilling to spend the sort of investment required to sign a 29yr old international and that is unlikely to change.. We have to be more creative and try to find the emerging talent rather than the ready made one. That is a longer and more risky process and Nunez knocking us back will delay things.

BW may have gone a bit early but he is also right that to start the season with just two strikers both of whom are young and relatively inexperienced is a major risk. I cannot see a scenario where we do not get someone in the worry would be if its a last minute loan to fill a hole rather than someone we actually want.

No. I don’t want them to go public, just get a wiggle on and actually sign a striker
