Ok, fair enough. But this whole conversation did start because you wrote -

I just don’t think the club will want to be leaking evidence of deals if they can avoid it - especially after the Núñez debacle!

Different sorts of players I think.

Rodrigo is hardly prolific though, he has hit top level double figures once in six seasons with Valencia in La Liga. Maupay has double figures in the last four seasons and once in his only season in the Premier League.

I reckon Valencia have a better Striker, hopefully he is not outside our thinking.

In terms of fee, RB Liepzig are rumoured to have offered €20m. I’m sure that’s in our range. Valencia will sell because they have to, it’s just a question of where he ends up. Other rumours about Barca being after him but I’m not sure that he is good enough for them.

If the lad wants Premier League football, we have a chance, albeit reasonably minute.

He turned down West Ham last summer in favour of a move to Valencia, citing the language and wanting to stay in Spain. Maybe the number of Spanish speakers at Brighton could persuade him but I doubt it.
