My words Mr Iris, sorry Kinky were that he needs competition, which I do not think has been offered, although Foster seems to be in good nick at present.

You said Kirkland was the better keeper and was unlucky because of injuries.

You cant call eveyone LI because you disagree with them

Ben Foster looks like he could hold the England shirt for a good few years. Is he still contracted at United? It would do him good if they played him next year but I can see Van Der Sar getting another season in. Hopefully Foster will keep playing and stay fit because his command of the area and solid kicking are exactly what we need at the moment.

I read somewhere that Watford expect him to be at Utd next season, which seems a waste if he is going to be number 2 there.

Yes, yes he is. He is in his second year of a two year loan spell. He's better than James and miles better than Robinson.

He never kicked on from a reasonable start. Getting relegated in 95/96 seemed to knock his confidence and he did seem to have a bit of an attitude that he was too good for the bottom league. The following season he got injured and Omerod came in, who was a limited keeper, but seemed to be a bit more solid than Rust.

Rust reappeared for a couple of games in the 97/98 season and was released at the end of that one by Horton.

Last seem in the professional game letting 9 in for Barnet on his debut. Last I heard was he was turning out for Cambridge City.

That was 2001..... played all over the place non-league but seeme to always get injured. However very few clubs have a bad word against him regarding his ability.

I have always stood by the fact that I think Kirkland is the most talented of the keepers we have had, from seeing him play for Coventry when he was 19 (Oaf was at that game as well). However the injuries have hindered him and he has had some shakey games this season.

The reference was more to do with fact interpretation.

He did have ability. Probably a tad too short. Always got the impression that Rust, Minton and McDougall felt they were too good for Brighton, but never consistantly showed that.

Minton was at the time, however not good enough for Championship/Div one/Div two

Not really sure I would misquote ou on purpose for my own agenda tho, do you?

Who's the lad in goal for Charlton. I've only seen him play a couple of times on t.v but he looks like he could be a very decent goalkeeper.

Nicky Rust had a great first season then went a bit shit.

Please please please tell me you're jesting, McDonut thought he was too good for us???? He was a total crock of shite.
As for Rust, I genuinely believe he was a very talented keeper who maybe needed a goalkeeping coach, he always seemed to lay down in 1 on 1 situations.

If Robbo lost weight and Kirkland could cure his Andertonitis then we could have 4 very good keepers in them 2 and Foster and Carson.

Always got the feeling with McDougall and Minton that as they had come through at Spurs they thought they were too good for us.

McDougall was completely gash and the fact we convinced Rotherham to pay 50k for him was a miracle.

Well if hendo had performed well for us..no1 would have had chance to questio his place in the team...not even wilkins wanted to drop Hendo imho but it got to a point where his effort and ability were in question...he looked poor game after game and I must admit im no FDM worshipper..but I cant say ive ever seen dodgy display game after game from kuipers.

The guy came back into the team and immidiately stopped conceeding

Blackpool at home on tv. Kuipers conceded 3 goals.
