I think it would have been the Gardners Arms in Portslade. An absolute dive, and all but deserted. Its where I honed my pool playing skills, the table was only 20p and I'd spend all night on it.
The Aldrington in Hove when I was about 15, not excatly a glamorous location. I would also replace the word beer, with cider, as I was only a youngster!
(Although some of us never grow out of the cider stage, do they Mr C?)
Mine was either Clifton or Jolly Brewers in Worthing 1957 Mild & Bitter about 1s pint(5p) and Brown & MIld 1s 2d(6p) first pub I ran was Connaught in East London 1967 Bitter 1s 8d pint (8p) Draught Lager was brought into this country dutring my time at the Connaught - Tuborg
It was either The Golden Gloves, The White Hart (both on Seaside Road, Eastbourne) or the Inn On The Tracks (at Eastbourne Station).
I remember my first ever pub crawl - the White Hart was pub number 3 on our trek. We arrived just in time to be witness to a stabbing! Kind of scary - 16 years old. In pub, lager in hand. Just watched stabbing. Giving statements to the old bill.
