It's a bit of a Mecca for mountain bikers and ramblers where I am. Normally for the first weekend of Easter holidays with good weather the village carpark would be overflowing. I've only seen 1 car in it this weekend and I'm pretty sure that belongs to a resident. In general it's like 28 days later round here.

Well, in Westdene we have been treated by some idiot having a bonfire on the first decent Sunday afternoon of the year when all us good folk have self isolated, had windows open and were looking forward to sitting in the garden.

Hancock saying there are no plans to change the rules on social distancing at the moment but another plea to respect the rules. Dr Jenny gave a very good explanation on why it isn’t ok to sit on a park bench or have a picnic.

There’s a thread on twitter today in response to a picture of a couple sat on the beach eating chips being approached by a copper. Loads of ‘they’re not near anyone so why isn’t it ok, ‘police state’ type comments etc, and some others saying ‘.....but we’re allowed out to exercise’. They’re eating ****ing chips.

Lancing beach green very clear today. Only a very few of the usual types not adhering to regulations;

Chav couple drinking cider at a picnic bench.
Yoga mums in gym gear sat on grass while their children play close together and ride their scooters near everyone else.
Idiots at the skate park.

Walked over the river, round the airport, onto the beach and back over the main footbridge early afternoon - very few people which is good

How is westdene these days ? Lived the first 26 years of my life there. Always very safe place to live,

Suspect a complete restriction will come into place from intimation given by Hancock & Gove fairly soon. Why is it that some people can't just obey the rules or guidelines? It's only been a couple of weeks and probably won't go on for much more than another month.

If so, 6 weeks or so is hardly a major hardship in the scheme of things. A boring life I might be leading at the moment but have found plenty to do in the house in terrms of decorating, sorting through the loft & garage, and caught up on a few books and TV box sets I haven't seen before, plus the garden has never looked so good.

They’re all treating this as a holiday.

An epidemiologist explained this week, that although they may all feel invincible, some will be spreading the virus from and to people they don’t know. In one word, selfish.

Police should have been swarming all over areas like this today. Walking up and down with megaphones and clearing the place.

Safe (ish) and thankfully fairly boring. Occasional spates of car damage, catalytic converters going astray, a few kids loitering where they shouldn’t, and a school that seems to be growing by the day judging by the chaos the morning mums bring to the area, but overall a nice place to live. If the roads weren’t made up when you were here, then the tarmac put down now has more hole than road.
