Perhaps you could tell that to the three separate pairs of cyclists who forced me to move out the way for them because they wanted to cycle side by side down the path I was running on?

While you’re at it, can you tell the ‘family’ of five adults who took up the whole pavement forcing me to run into the road.

They and others are not respecting 2 metres and making it difficult for other individuals who are to exercise safely.

That’s because those people are selfish or arrogant ********s. Possibly endangering others.

But families riding in a line, or walking in a line when they pass others, is perfectly acceptable. That’s the way we do it.

Before you criticise others why are you driving somewhere for excercise?

Is it urgent travel or are you a key worker?
It's a one mile car journey to my allotment site, I could walk but then I would come much closer to other people on the journey. I don't have a bike before you ask.

Allotments are not on any government ban list and by definition we are usually a lot more than 2 m apart. Besides, the produce grown could well be vital six months down the road.

Just put an old desk from the spare room in the car to free up space in case room is needed for self isolation. Parked on Hove seafront and it was quiet.
What struck me was the strength of the Easterly wind. The 2m social distance should be around 10m in that steady wind blowing along the line of the Prom.

This is exactly the problem. Many people are trying to do the right thing, but when many others do the same it becomes the wrong thing.

Our dog walking route was considerably busier yesterday than it is normally, even on a sunny day.

I've been "social media shamed" by someone I don't know because a run I did was longer than they thought it should be. I saw very few others and came no closer than 6-7m to anyone because I gave everyone a very wide berth, often by running down the middle of a road. I'd also taken a route that kept me away from where I perceived would be busiest, ie the seafront, even though I love running by the sea.

I've kinda decided that if I'm going out for a run now, I'll do so either very early (pre-7am) or late (post-9pm) as this does avoid most others.

Social media at its worse

To me that journey is not against the spirit of what has been asked.

Nice to see a young couple calling out an arrogant jogger of about the same age as them up my road this morning. Arrogant jogger's all about the 'yeah whatever mate' like coronavirus has nothing to do with him, while the young couple are pointing out he'd jogged just about right in their faces. They get my vote as the good guys in this encounter

Maybe he/she lives somewhere where they can’t easily exercise? If you live in a small village it can be difficult if you want to run any meaningful distance safely.

It ain't rocket science is. A politician needs to say if you run or cycle, do it alone and give people wide berths and if you go for a walk, no stopping, sitting down or lying down and give people wide berths.

Twattish behaviour....it's really very simple to give people a swerve most of the time - failing that just stand to the side FFS, no runner should be so worried about their times at the moment - not like anyone has any events coming up. I encountered maybe 30 people whilst out running this morning, usually find it's easier for me to move out than walkers simply because I'm moving faster (not much, but a bit)

We have a troop of people visiting a house just down from us with birthday presents and all nattering in the road outside. I know it’s hard and my daughters birthday is coming up but STAY AWAY! I’ll give my kids their birthday presents and Easter eggs eventually but they’re NOT ESSENTIAL.

Makes my blood boil that people are being so stupid, selfish and irresponsible.

Living in a small village myself, I’d assumed that it was easier for me than a city dweller. I can go for a run and pass less than a dozen people in an hour. I can’t imagine that being possible for townies.

This! I live in a very small community and I can walk my dogs for miles on the local footpaths and not see another soul. I couldn’t do that if I was still living in Brighton.

I sense much wider restrictions on our movements being implemented soon.

Too many ignorant and selfish people seem to think the current rules don’t apply to them.

Agreed. Also I had an IKEA delivery booked in for this week but they seem to be stopping all deliveries until further notice based on the email I got today. I wonder if they’ve had a heads up

Everyone in my household is making sure we get out for some exercise today. We are staying local and practising social distancing. I suspect this might be our last chance for several weeks.

Agreed. It really is that simple. Exercise = Walking, running or cycling. Ideally alone (unless with kids) and moving continuously!

Roller blading is permitted if you can prove you are a teenage girl or a homosexual man.

I knew someone that said they could run through the whole village in about 5 minutes and then it was just narrow twisty country roads with no pavement or muddy ploughed fields if they wanted to go further. Hence they drove to more suitable places.
