Safe (ish) and thankfully fairly boring. Occasional spates of car damage, catalytic converters going astray, a few kids loitering where they shouldn’t, and a school that seems to be growing by the day judging by the chaos the morning mums bring to the area, but overall a nice place to live. If the roads weren’t made up when you were here, then the tarmac put down now has more hole than road.

The school is loved, 4WD’s pouring in every day from Patcham and Hove. We know people who lied about their home address (switching to the grandparents, in the catchment), to get their kids in. Hell bent on avoiding Patcham and Hove infants/junior schools for some reason.

Pisstaking like this has gone on too long now, and the effects of it will have devastating results. Everyone knows the rules. I have a daughter working at the Royal Sussex, and a wife working in a care home with patients with dementia. My wife is coughing tonight.

Bollocks to it. I want to see police operating lorry-mounted water cannons. That would sort out this pisstake INSTANTLY - and drastically reduce any future incidences of these DILBERTS who still mince around parks and beaches like everything is ok. If they don't get the message now, then its only going to get worse as we move into summertime when everyone thinks its "ok" if they slope around, meeting mates in parks and sunbathing as if all is well with the world and they are somehow exempt from trying to stop spreading the death.

Suspect a complete restriction will come into place from intimation given by Hancock & Gove fairly soon. Why is it that some people can't just obey the rules or guidelines? It's only been a couple of weeks and probably won't go on for much more than another month.

If so, 6 weeks or so is hardly a major hardship in the scheme of things. A boring life I might be leading at the moment but have found plenty to do in the house in terrms of decorating, sorting through the loft & garage, and caught up on a few books and TV box sets I haven't seen before, plus the garden has never looked so good.

Don't believe the guidance has changed lately but with the sunny weather and people getting fed up of being at home then keep mentioning tightening restrictions. Idiots like those have a BBQ on the beach and the groups of Lycra bike warriors aren't helping.

I don't think everyone does know the rules, I certainly don't. This page: https://www.gov.uk/government/news/coronavirus-guidance-on-access-to-green-spaces says:

The government’s priority is to save lives and the best way to protect yourself and others from illness is to stay at home.

However, exercise is still important for people’s physical and mental wellbeing, so the government has said people can leave their homes for exercise once a day.

Please use the following guidance in order to stay safe:
stay local and use open spaces near to your home where possible – do not travel unnecessarily
you should only go outside alone or with members of your own household
keep at least 2 metres apart from anyone outside your household at all times
gatherings of more than two in parks or other public spaces have been banned and the police will enforce this
if you have a garden, make use of the space for exercise and fresh air
take hygiene precautions when you are outside, and wash your hands as soon as you are back indoors
if walking your dog in areas used by other people, you should walk your dog on a lead to ensure you can safely keep 2 metres away from others. You can find further guidance for pet owners here

The vast majority of people in that video seem to be observing those rules as best they can in the middle of a city/town (barring the obvious idiots). From my experience most people are being very sensible, but the media is focusing on the handful who aren't. Drone footage of people complying with the government's own guidance doesn't really help.

I think you're probably right.

I can't help but feel that the shaming of people in the media (and in some places on this thread) is a bit much given that the government is recognising the importance of exercise and seemingly also allowing people in city centres to use open spaces. The vast majority of people are just trying to get through this playing by the rules and being sensible.

(p.s. I am not excusing here people having a bbq on the beach, a beer on a bench, playing guitar etc, that's all clearly not daily exercise and is obviously in breach of the rules)

Question would be why do they need to drive somewhere to exercise. It's supposed to be exercise, not a sightseeing trip..................without knowing where they are driving from it's difficult to overly criticise - maybe a 5 min trip means the kids can cycle in much more safety..........but travelling to exercise is at best 'discouraged'.

I’d prefer to drive to somewhere quiet and let my kids have a ride around than ride on the street or in a busier public area. Too many people immediately jumping to conclusions.
