For people with breathing difficulties / Asthma it can be a problem…..but I guess you’re posting to try and sound smart

Not at all. There’s far more important things going on in the world to worry about.

Besides, as others have already pointed out, the club will have done extensive risk assessments before going ahead with this. Anybody who thinks they haven’t is being short sighted.

I would also suggest that walking down the street with heavy traffic is more dangerous for asthmatics than well controlled pyrotechnics. Get a grip.

I get asthma and have to take my pump everywhere I go , but talk about over exaggerating the effect of a few fireworks, I felt no discomfort at all ,
Perhaps there should be breathing apparatus available for all the people on here who can’t cope with a few fireworks [emoji95]

Few rows back in east upper. Basically stood on top of the things when they go off. VERY heavily asthmatic, deviated septum, riddled with breathing issues and extremely sensitive eyes, affected by almost anything in the air, basically been slowly falling apart since the day I was born, and yet, shockingly, no affect on me whatsoever and it cleared almost immediately. My vision of the game was not impacted AT ALL. Neither yesterday at Leeds or Newcastle. Sorry. Not an issue.

…and unlike fans letting off pyros it’s done safely at distance and not IN THE CROWD by a fan, right in anyones faces at close proximity. No comparison.

There has always been a large number of bar laggards not even at their seats ready to greet the team's entrance, so sounds of explosion at pitchside can only help to chivvy people up.

It looks great and if people with poor health approve then that's good enough for me. Keep it.

Says person getting annoyed at others voicing opinions online

Annoyed? Not me, I’m having a fantastic day!

I find it quite funny tbh, especially the fact that you cut and paste what you want to see, ignoring the rest of my post. You must be OUTRAGED! :lolol:

IMO most of the smoke ended up blowing into the West Stand Upper, so maybe those in the East didn’t get a lung full.
I had very bad Asthma from birth until early twenties, I still have it but it’s under control with medication, I definitely felt uncomfortable with the smoke at the beginning of the match yesterday.

But then again they didn’t have the fireworks for grumpy old c###s like me :moo:

West is BEST
Everything will upset someone. There used to be a time when sickly children were sent off to live with with their Great Aunt in the country and spent their days reading books in a walled garden while the world was allowed to get on with things unimpeded. Now so much as a sparkler is lit in the ground, they scream for a policeman and write to the club.

*this post is tongue in cheek, please don’t get bent out of shape.

the rest wasn't relevant to the point(and didn't negate it anyway).
I find it odd people telling others what they and aren't allowed to comment on. If it's not bothering you , why tell others to "get a grip"?

The clubs ban fans, (rightly), for letting off fireworks and flares, but are quite happy to do it themselves. No thank you, cough cough, they aren't for me.

And the players and management team are allowed bottle tops. Presumably because they can be trusted to use them properly, with no danger to the fans.

So you don’t think the club doing risk assessments on the pyrotechnics is relevant?

I’ve heard it all now! :lolol::lolol::lolol::facepalm:

Smokebombs are not flares.

This is a flare

View attachment 151255

What has been brought into the ground recently is a perfectly safe smoke bomb, the type which is sold to celebrate weddings or the announcement of a baby's gender.

View attachment 151256

There is a world of difference between a flare and a smoke bomb.
Yes I can see the difference, but aren’t both banned from stadia?

Funny how if supporters smuggle them in and let them off, they get condemned.....bit like this wonderful government we are lumbered with, "do as I say, not as I do" !
